Earlier this month, General Motors officially revealed the fully updated 2025 Chevy S10 in Brazil, a pickup with which the company aims to lead the segment in that country.
A automaker’s top executive told Brazilian media Automotive Business that GM South America is launching the updated 2025 Chevy S10 with an eye on leading Brazil’s midsize pickup market, which the S10 previously led, but has been dominated by the Argentine Toyota Hilux over the past several years. Since then, the Chevy S10 has occupied second place in segment sales in the Brazilian market.
“Our expectation is that the new S10 will maintain its sales pace this year, which is 28,000 to 30,000 units per year. But we have the production capacity to take market leadership with this version,” said Product Marketing Director at GM South America, Paula Saiani. “Despite being in second place in the segment, we have a circulating fleet of 810,000 cars in the country, so we must have well-structured after-sales service,” she added.
Although this is a comprehensive update rather than a complete redesign, the updated 2025 Chevy S10 introduces significant changes that greatly raise its level of competitiveness. These encompass a more robust exterior design, an extensively redesigned interior with much more technology and equipment, as well as a new-generation powertrain, making it one of the most advanced and innovative midsize pickups on the Brazilian automotive market.
In fact, GM South America’s strategy of developing the new 2025 Chevy S10 using the same platform and overall body structure of the outgoing model allowed it to substantially update the aspects that local customers care about most without raising the cost of the model. This meant that the most-equipped versions of the 2025 S10 came out at exactly the same price as the previous model during the reservation period, promising to remain very competitive.
In addition, GM wants to take full advantage of the 2025 Chevy S10’s competitive advantage as the longest-running midsize pickup in the Brazilian market, and the only one among the major brands that is manufactured locally in that country. The S10 is exclusively built alongside the Chevy TrailBlazer SUV at the GM São José dos Campos plant, which received significant adjustments to produce the new version of the truck and maximize its production capacity.
