When the C8 Corvette first launched for the 2020 model year, tuners struggled to squeeze more juice from the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, primarily due to the “uncrackable” Global B electronic architecture underpinning the new mid-engine Vette. Just a few years later, Trifecta Performance announced that it was the first to first to natively tune the new C8 and GM’s other Global B applications. Now, Trifecta has partnered with Lingenfelter and Boost District to turn up the wick on the new Corvette E-Ray.
The partnership includes advanced tuning techniques involving both supercharging and turbocharging. Vince Geglia II, founder at Trifecta Performance, emphasized the company’s proactive approach to tuning the E-Ray, which included obtaining the 2024 Engine Control Module (ECM) early to ensure seamless integration with the performance enhancements.
The initial project led by Lingenfelter focused on installing a Magnuson supercharger on the E-Ray. Despite the hybrid model’s complexity, the team successfully enhanced the vehicle’s output to an impressive 734 horsepower and 792 pound-feet of torque, a substantial 28-percent increase in horsepower and 25-percent increase in torque over baseline figures, all achieved without compromising the vehicle’s drivability and emissions compliance.
On the turbocharging front, Boost District installed twin snails to increase acceleration performance to near-mid-nine-second quarter-mile times on stock tires. This feat was particularly noteworthy given the minimal modifications made to the vehicle.
Technical aspects of these modifications include the use of a Supercharger Control Module (SCM) developed by Lingenfelter, which allows for precise control over the supercharger’s performance. This system, along with the twin-turbo setup by Boost District, utilizes advanced calibration strategies to ensure that even with significant power increases, the vehicle’s emissions and drivability meet legal standards.
As these modified Corvette E-Rays prepare for more rigorous testing, we can’t wait to see what comes next as the aftermarket unlocks the true potential of the first-ever hybrid Vette.
