Some 2024 Cadillac CT4, CT5 Sedan Need Tie Rod Jam Nuts Tightened

General Motors has issued a new service update for specific units of the 2024-model-year Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5 sedans. The bulletin, identified as Service Update N242440670, addresses an issue wherein the tie rod jam nuts on certain vehicles may not meet the required torque specifications. If tie rod jam nuts are out of spec, vehicle alignment may be affected. It is unclear exactly how many units may be affected.

The tie rod jam nuts on certain Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5 sedans may not meet the required torque specifications.

To rectify this issue, GM has directed dealerships to perform a front wheel toe set alignment and to tighten both jam nuts to the proper factory specifications. The inner tie rod nut on both sides of the vehicle should be torqued to 59 pound-feet (80 Nm). The entire procedure is expected to take less than an hour of labor time and does not require any replacement parts.

This Service Update, released in April of the 2024 calendar year, will be applied to any affected vehicle in dealer inventory or any customer vehicle that returns to the dealership for any reason.

It is important to note that this service update is not classified as a recall but instead is considered a Service Update. GM is expected to contact owners of affected 2024 Cadillac CT4 and 2024 Cadillac CT5 sedans directly to schedule this service. Ensuring that all components, like tie rods, are correctly adjusted is crucial for maintaining the vehicle’s performance and safety standards.

Owners concerned about whether their vehicle is affected by this service update can contact Cadillac customer service for more details and to verify if their vehicle needs the mentioned adjustment.
