General Motors has released a new Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) for certain units of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade and 2023 Cadillac Escalade ESV. The CSP, identified as N232413430, was released to address an issue with the SUVs’ naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine. The fix for the issue is a full engine replacement. To note, this CSP is not considered a recall.
CSP N232413430 was released earlier this month to address oversized lifter bores in some 6.2L V8 L87 engines equipped by certain units of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV. The CSP only addresses the 2023 model year for Escalade and Escalade ESV, as well as the 2023 Chevy Silverado, 2023 Chevy Tahoe, 2023 Chevy Suburban, 2023 GMC Sierra, and 2023 GMC Yukon, all of which may be equipped with a 6.2L V8 engine with oversized lifter bores. Vehicles identified with this issue will undergo a complete engine replacement, as directed by GM
The 6.2L V8 L87 engine is equipped as standard across the Escalade lineup, with the exception of the Cadillac Escalade-V and Cadillac Escalade-V ESV, which are equipped with the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine. The non-V-Series 2023 Escalade lineup also offers the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine as optional. The L87 is rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Initially introduced with the fourth-generation 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2019 GMC Sierra 1500, the L87 engine is part of the second-generation EcoTec3 engine family and is manufactured at GM’s Tonawanda plant in New York.
For 2023 Cadillac Escalade owners affected by this new CSP, GM will provide instructions on the necessary steps to take to receive their replacement engine.
The potential scope of this CSP has not been fully disclosed, and it’s unknown exactly how many units have been affected.

More proof of problems
Maybe at least Cadillac is trying to find the bottom of the issue.
I bought a brand new 2022 Chevy Suburban LT 87,000 miles on engine blow up I believe it is the same problem lifters and they said the warranty was 60 miles 60,000 so I have to pay for pay $9,700 for a brand new engine I shoot the owner a free replacement by the dinner and reading this now this is 2022 Suburban engineers 5.3 L Ecotec C3 VA only the dealer where I bought it it’s been taken care of from day one oil change everything nobody else does this car any suggestions for you from you?
Should have gotten the 3.0 Duramax. Then you wouldn’t be replacing an engine.
No you would replacing the injectors, injector harnesses, and DEF system, being a GM parts manager I see it all the time with the 3.0 Duramax.
How do you buy a brand new truck with 87k miles on it. What were you expecting? Should’ve bought an extended warranty. Issues have been around these engines for over a decade. Not new. Also 5.3 is not part of issue.
Another example of quality control problems at GM it has affected every GM vehicle
Try and look at Ford for QC issues..they have LOTS.
You’re right, Ram. Who cares if gm pumps out expensive hot garbage as long as Ford is even worse?
Ford has problems, Chevrolet also has issues, everyone has issues. The point is, at least Cadillac is trying to resolve the issue, while Ford did not fix other issues such as the 10R80 problems….
Yep luckily I made home off freeway when mine blew. GM replaced it no problems so far. Shame you pay over$100k for a luxury vehicle. However cadillac hasn’t had a quality car since 1959.
Wasn’t the 1959 problem the pitman arms breaking?
For quality cars to last, this comes with proper maintenance.
Its a issue at all manufactures. Even toyota is having quality issues with their trucks.
Our 2023 Escalade was one of those units. Needless to say, we no longer own an Escalade. Very disappointed in Cadillac.
I am sorry for you. Maybe it was also how you maintained it as well…
All of my Cadillacs are well maintained and are always bought brand new. It was a GM issue, not lack of proper maintenance.
Rammy knows best. He/she/it’s always blaming the owner.
He/she/it is truly an idiot pretending to know the facts to cover for GM on every posting.
And YOU are good enough for protecting these people even when we do not know HOW they actually drove it.
I am sorry. There is something off here.
Dude what car do you own and why are you here defending Cadillac? Maintenance; @socalgirl76 says she had a 2023 Escalade, what don’t you get, if you pay over a 100k for a vehicle the last thing one expects is for the vehicle to die on a highway or road with an engine failure. I have a Bentley GT that I take out once every couple of months and beat the balls off it and to date no engine failure. Get a reality check GM is building crap, also had a Deville with that genius NorthStar engine. These are not maintenance issues and yes I will give GM props on their exchanging 2 engines so far on that doosy of a car I got but who in the world wants their vehicles front end completely disassembled and reassembled twice, never the same as being untouched from assembly line. BTW why don’t they reset engine hours when they replace engine? Since you seem to work for GM maybe you can ask them that.
I just bought 2023 Escalade in January. Brand new 0 miles. A couple of weeks ago it died on me at a red light. I took it in for oil change and told them about the issue. They checked it and of course found no issue. I took it on vacation for July 4th and I was on a 2 lane road with no shoulders on either side in the mountains and I was passing some slow traffic (the vehicle holding us up was a cement truck) when I got a chance to pass the cement truck and the 3 vehicles I passed them. As I got beside the cement truck going 75 mph my Escalade shut off….. no where to go but thankfully there were no cars coming from the other direction or all 4 of us in the Escalade would probably be dead. The dealership said no codes were showing (which we knew already because no “check” lights came on). So now we start the guessing game. They have started by replacing the fuel injector module. After the traumatizing event I do not want the vehicle back. I carry my grandkids in it every day. I am scared of it. What is my recourse?
This is what happens when a company abandons legacy, heritage, experience, and know how.
GM has successfully been producing V8s for decades and this problem shows up. It’s inexcusable for a company that has effectively perfect the V8 engine.
Just like Boeing….
And Toyota also has issues nowadays. The Tundra’s engines are blowing up as well and are MUCH MORE expensive to repair than these engines from Cadillac…think 32k/19k for one engine. The older 5.7L had 10k bill as well.
And how exactly does that take Cadillac off the hook? Is that supposed to make an Escalade owner feel perfectly fine about this? Oh honey, you know the engine issue on our Cadillac, turns out its fine cause Toyota had a similar problem…all good!
Well this depends on how the Escalade owner maintained his car as well when new… I never hear of this issue in Qatar.
I just had my engine replaced last week. I drive a 2023 Cadillac Esv platinum. All under warranty, but that could’ve been a huge expense.
Be interesting to see how your “resale value” will be affected.
Won’t affect it, if anything it would increase it.
No, a blown engine will decrease resale value. There was a person with a 22 SD Tremor who has the cam and delamination issue- if anything, it will drop the value of the truck.
GM leadership seems to be more interested in developing slow-selling EVs rather than reliable traditional transportation. GM is having issues that we have not seen since the 70’s.
Curious… how about the L83 5.3? Mine has been great. No complains after deleting the AFM abortion.
Hey, atleast the union workers got their pay increases!
As a Limo Company owner, I’ve had over 20 Escalades in the last three years run through my company. We’ve had three engine swaps under 20,000 miles, we’ve had a full car breakdown while picking it up at the dealership, we’ve had transmission issues, lifter issues, we’ve had a car just die in the middle of an intersection with clients in it, These are the worst made cars we have ever used. When people buy one or two they don’t really have anything to go by, it could be just unlucky. I don’t think we’ve had a single vehicle go above 30,000 miles without an issue. With our navigators, 1 had absolutely no issues until 70,000 miles, another had an engine swap at about 50k due to some kind of electrical issue. Not really sure since they kept the car for over a month without telling us, no issues since then, what was happening. But the Escalades, they are complete garbage!
Lincoln is putting out some beauties these days.
This is strange. It obviously may have something to do with the owner.
I have a 22 Escalade. The engine died in the middle of an intersection at 10000 miles. Although the engine was replaced, this is unacceptable for a vehicle priced at over $100k and as a result of the engine failure, the catalytic converter had to be replaced two weeks after having the engine replaced. I can go on and on….Lemon
I got a 22 Chevy Suburban LT 5.3 engine engine failure at 87,000 Mi has to be replaced because of the lifter one new engine 9700 dollar I think that should be replaced and no extra charge but they did not because the warranty is 60,000 miles so I got to pay for and right now as we speak my car is making a rumbling noise in the back bring it back to the dealer and this is Maria and has to be replaced and there is no ETA because GMC hasn’t made that part yet so I’m driving around with a noisy rear end only when I make a turn left or right and I change the oil in the same dealership where I bought from day one every time we reach 20% straight to the dealer change oil the only one that they touch the car any advice for me please
We have 2023 Cadillac luxury premium platinum How do you know if your car is on the list???? Our SUV runs great for now. Do you have to wait till it break down or are GM just replacing the engine??
I may have everyone here beat. I am on my third engine, original blew at 9900 miles on an on ramp to the PA Pike, almost got side swiped a dozen times, then my replacement blew at 17000 miles middle lane of Philadelphia Rt. 1 bailed out after first rig almost plowed into rear of vehicle. My current engine has a rough idle and shudders between gear shifts. This recall is BS, GM is aware of the issue has been since 2022. When my first engine went there were 10 other Escalades waiting on new engines, this last time there were about 6. The Cadillac tech told me that the first engine was bad heads and now the second is bad metal composition in the main bearings. They are making a bad product and unfortunately I believe it is only a matter of time till someone looses their life. Major issue when your vehicle dies on a highway road. It is a shame, I have been a loyal customer to the brand but at this point I have lost all confidence in the brand and need to put my safety first and look at other makes and models.
or maybe it is BAD maintenance…
Bad maintainence. How so? The vehicle has had all scheduled oil changes and state inspections performed at dealership. If you read my post you will note that the first engine went at 9900 miles, and second at 17000 miles. Engine lock due to bad cam design on first and second was main bearings went die to bad metal composition. GM has had problems with their manufacturing nothing to do with maintenance and this is my 4th Escalade I trade up every 3 years.
Good evening, I have a 2023 Cadillac and the engine stopped working 2 times and the last time the engine went neutral on Interstate 87 and it doesn’t work and I have been waiting for more than 5 weeks and they still haven’t given me an answer as to when I will be able to work and my company is without producing
Bergeys in Conshohocken PA has motors for vehicles under warranty. They have been great. My technician Adrian had my second motor replaced in 2 days. Bergeys (formerly Armen Cadillac), are a great bunch a guys and gals. Highly recommend if you are able to get your vehicle to them that you do so, not their fault they are dealing with a bad situation thrust upon them by a bad manufacturer.
Or maybe a bad situation cause by poor maintenance and driving habits.
It was my understanding that the Autostop feature was the culprit. I disable mine every time I start it.
Probably the same problem I had with my 2007 Denali 6.2 gm told me it needed new engine !!! Bought it brand new 60k $$$$ Problem
Is Rama Nara a GM Bot?
Seems that way. Now it’s the way I drive. So you spend a 100k on a vehicle that’s advertises that it is the same engine used in a Corvette and they expect you to drive 55, sorry I feel like a Sammy Hagger song, ” I can’t drive 55″. Wonder if Rama Nara gets the reference.
I can’t imagine that these hydraulic lifter bores were over machined by mistake, Maybe they increased the tolerances to decrease valve train friction and this did not work out in real world situations. Just speculating.
The last good 6.2L V8 to leave GM plants was the L92 6.2 L V8,(2007-2008)
Not perfect but they were less of a headache to repair.
I’m beyond upset!!! My 2023 Cadillac Escalade just got the engine replaced after having an issue and completely turning off while driving my children on the freeway … after 3 months I just got my truck back and GUESS WHAT??? IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN!
