No. 2 Xfinity NASCAR Chevy Earns First Win At Talladega: Video

Jesse Love, driver of the No. 2 NASCAR Chevy Camaro SS in the Xfinity Series, earned his first career win at Talladega on April 20th, 2024, fending off the field in a pair of NASCAR Overtime finishes to claim the checkered flag. In fact, he’s now the seventh driver to earn his first NASCAR national series win at ‘Dega.

Earlier in the season, at Atlanta, Love was leading the pack when he ran out of fuel and surrendered the win to the No. 21 Camaro of Austin Hill. However, he rectified the heartbreaking loss at Talladega, starting on the front row and leading to the Stage 1 win. He stayed inside the top five for most of the race and found himself behind the No. 48 Camaro of Parker Kligerman on the first of two Overtime finishes.

Kligerman wrecked out, setting the stage for the final restart with Love on the front row alongside eight other drivers searching for their first victory. Even through another incident, Love took the white in the lead, beating out the No. 98 Ford Mustang Dark Horse of Riley Herbst.

“I had PTSD flashbacks from Atlanta,” Love said. “I love Talladega. I love the speedway, and I love the fans.”

He added, “Just a great group of guys [on my team], and it’s been such a journey to get to this point.”

Herbst finished second, followed by the No. 5 NASCAR Chevy Camaro of Anthony Alfredo. The No. 42 NASCAR Chevy of Leland Honeyman finished third, while the No. 44 Camaro of Brennan Poole rounded out the top five.
