New Ford Mustang Discount Targets Chevy Camaro Owners

Ford is looking to lure Chevy Camaro owners to buy a Ford Mustang by offering them a $1,000 discount on a new Blue Oval vehicle, a method of attracting customers known as a “conquest cash incentive.”

The thousand-dollar discount can be claimed not only by Chevy Camaro drivers, but also by owners of Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger vehicles, CarsDirect reports.

The deal is open to both owners and lessees of the Chevy Camaro and Dodge muscle car models. The terms appear to be quite generous given that owners are not required to trade in their vehicle to get the discount on a new Ford Mustang. In a similar vein, lessees do not need to terminate their lease. The offer is open to those with any of the three named models from the 1995 model year or newer.

Once ownership of an eligible muscle car is proven, the thousand-dollar deal can be applied to an EcoBoost or GT variant of the 2024 Ford Mustang. The article speculates the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse, a 500-horsepower performance variant with a slew of hard-charging features, will be excluded from the discount program, but there is no official Ford announcement to confirm or deny this supposition yet.

Meanwhile, the Chevy Camaro is now permanently out of production in its internal-combustion form, following a condensed production run from August through December 2023. Many options were removed from the 2024 Chevy Camaro to streamline production, though the 2024 Chevy Camaro Collector’s Edition was offered as a commemorative vehicle featuring unique Panther Black Metallic paint and Panther Matte Black paint choices among other special features.

Dealerships are already offering the Mustang Competitive Conquest Bonus Cash on their websites, with the deal available through April 30th, 2024. The two Mustang trims mentioned, the EcoBoost and the GT, have a starting price of $30,920 and $41,960 before the discount is applied.

The last 2024 Chevy Camaro Convertible was produced on November 22nd, while the final Coupe was produced on December 14th, 2023 as a ZL1 trim vehicle with Summit White paint (color code GAZ), the ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package (RPO code A1Z), and, of course, the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine.

  1. You would have to give $10k off trading in Camaro to own a Rustang…….I mean Mustang.

    1. Nah, Ford is doing it right. Karen Barra and lowercase gm killed the Camaro and want their all EV future. Ford just announced more hybrids and are doing everything they can to keep the V8 in the Mustang.

      1. QC on the new Mustang is terrible. I will NOT touch one.

        1. I’ve had both, the Mustang is much better ride & quality.

          1. The new one? I do not think so. Ford still has QC issues- maybe you were lucky to get one that did not have the problems.

        2. At Least these Guys are producing a vehicle to be able to bargain with. They are in the Box Seat for the sale by STILL PRODUCING AN ICON. Even if sales are down, they DIDN’T PULL OUT and Flip the Finger to customers.

          1. But they are struggling with QC issues. The problem is that Ford tries to overextend itself and offer too many things… a bad practice.

        3. gm will never have the quality Ford does. I’ve owned many of both and the gm’s left me walking a lot. I will never get rid of my Fords. Getting to old to be walking everywhere anymore.

          1. Maybe that is a problem with YOU in your maintenance, not with the car.

  2. Who saw something like this coming? Well, lower case gm’s upcoming 2025 7th Generation ICE Camaro SS 550 hp will stop these conquest sales! Oh, never mind.

  3. If Ford needs to put money on the hood to attract buyers, that kind of validates gm’s decision to stop production. Not enough buyers of pony cars.

    1. Not enough buyers? Ford is still producing where gm gave up. Garbage motors probably gave up because of issues with sales. Don’t get me wrong, I’d own a camaro in a heartbeat (as long as they gave it to me).

      1. Maybe you do not understand the situation, DO YOU? They removed it because it was not selling well.

  4. No thanks, Ford. My Camaro6 2SS vert is shake free. A drive in a 24 Mustang GT vert vs a 16-24 Camaro SS vert and you’ll see why. The Ford cowl shake is awful- an untamed pony. The Camaro tight as a drum.

      2. Read GM and Ford Authority. They both have imperfect vehicles. Buy a BMW and watch what happens after three years. Same with Mercedes.

    1. Just read Dennis’s comment below. I am all for a honest opinion. I am buying only cars manufactured in NA but I am no prisoner to one brand. GM has a “captive” fan base supporting the brand no matter how bad it gets. This practice does not help GM’s progress / improvement.

  8. At my age, I’ve owned more GM cars and trucks that I can remember. I’ve been a GM fan for many years. I’ve owned their great cars and some not so great cars. I have owned two 68 Camaro’s and a 73 Camaro. I’ve had two 70’s Corvettes. I always wanted to stay with GM and the Camaro but GM forced me away after the last generation of the Camaro body style. Although it was a good car, the body design was terrible. Visibility was non-existent, and seating was uncomfortable. I have owned now six Mustangs. They were all decent cars. I had no more issues with them than the GM cars. I now drive a Shelby GT500.
Chevy’s have gone from being a gearhead’s dream to a grocery getter. What happened to one line of cars with engine options. Small block, big block, are things of the past.
If you want a great grocery getter, get a Toyota or a Honda.
Don’t forget ladies and gentlemen, it’s TRUCK MONTH at your GM dealer!

  10. The only Camaro ZL1 we have in Aussie is a version of which 375 were converted to R.H.D. by the Walkinshaw group in conjunction with GM. As a result of the conversion process, the Camaro cost $179K (Aus) in Aussie compared with around $85-90K (Aus) for the Mustang which does not have to bear the conversion to RHD cost as it already comes in to Aussie built RHD in the States. Even so, no-one would swap their Camaro for a Mustang,…..can’t beat that LT4 engine!

  12. Quality control problems for the ford, what about qc issues on the Chevy. Like the crappie 8 spd.

    Reply
    1. The 8 speed had some TC programming issues that were a concern. But Ford still has worse quality now, as their 10 speeds still have not been worked out. I do not have anything against them, but they NEED to stop advertising and START working on their QC promises.

      1. Rama, you are wrong again. The 10R80 transmission is a common development by both GM and Ford.
The design is almost identical and they are using the same suppliers for the parts.
How do I know that? I have been involved in the 10R80 Program since 2016.

        1. Rammy’s wrong often because he/she’s:
          – emotional about GM
          – unable to be critical of GM
          – deflects from any GM shortcomings with lookey-over-there-isms
          – can’t cope with being wrong, so he/she compounds it with more layers of wrong.

          1. How about you KEEP QUIET and keep your insults to yourself. I am not EMOTIONAL or UNABLE to be Critical, nor am I a loyalist. This comment section is filled with people that either DO NOT WANT TO ADMIT CERTAIN THINGS , which are true about Ford to an extent, or simply want to prove their point to others. Get lost.

                1. But you’re certainly not tired of blaming everyone or everything else. Look back at your posts: GM can do no wrong, and it was the owners who blew it…without you having a clue of that owner’s record of maintenance.

Admit it, Ramsillydingdong. You’ve lashed out at everyone and everything excluding GM.

My guess is you’re in the 18-23 age bracket who thinks he/she’s invincible and correct on every issue because you read it on the internet.

DO YOU HAVE ANY RECORD OF THEIR MAINTENANCE EITHER? NO.
                    So your point is moot.

        2. Really? DO YOU HAVE SOLID HARD PROOF that you were involved in the 10R80 program? I do NOT believe you.

I agree that the transmission is similar, but the difference is in the programming. You seem to be a ford loyalist.

          1. You are wrong again. I already stated on an early comment that I am nobody’s “captured” fan. Just my personal preference for NA manufactured cars. This is the industry which helped me to succeed professionally and financially and I will not change my preference despite some not so good experiences throughout the years. Things are evolving in the auto industry and consumers need to look after their own needs / interests, not live in the past. and divide into fighting “tribes”.
As for my involvement in the 10R80 Transmission Program, proving you this, would not change a bit regarding your personal beliefs.
