In the latest rendition of J.D. Power’s Original Equipment Tire Customer Satisfaction Study, French-based tire company Michelin completed a hat trick and was ranked first in three of four categories.
According to the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. OE Tire Customer Satisfaction Study, Michelin was the highest-placed tire company in the luxury, passenger car, and performance sport sections with a score of 834/1000, 823/1000, and 833/1000, respectively. In each category, the average score was 810, 797, 809, respectively. Finally, in regard to the truck and utility section, Michelin was ranked fourth overall with a score of 802, while the average stood at 781.
It’s worth noting that 2024 marks the 21st consecutive year that Michelin was ranked first overall in the luxury category.
Interestingly, the satisfaction gap with original equipment tires between all-electric vehicles and ICE-powered vehicles appears to be widening, as EV owners claim that their tires are wearing faster.
“The widening satisfaction gap between EVs and gas-powered vehicles highlight an opportunity for tire manufacturers and automakers to educate EV owners on the differences in performance,” J.D. Power Benchmarking and Alternative Mobility Senior Director Ashley Edgar stated. “Additionally, because of the inherit conflict of maximizing vehicle range and optimizing tire wear for EVs, tire manufacturers and automakers need to work together to overcome the challenge without completely sacrificing tire performance in other areas, especially as the EV market continues to increase.”
For reference, J.D. Power’s U.S. Original Equipment Tire Customer Satisfaction Study measures tire owner satisfaction in four areas, including tire ride, tire wear, tire traction / handling, and tire appearance. In order to gain insight on these areas, J.D. Power took responses from 31,414 owners of 2022 and 2023 model-year vehicles, and fielded said responses from August 2023 to December 2023.

They are only goo if on a top sport package.
The sets that came on my last two Acadias mound not clear 25k miles. The MX series sucked.
The Pilots on my SS only got 28k miles and had no grip in dry or wet.
Went Goodyear and doubled my miles.
All I know for sure is that Continental cross contact tires used on Blazers are absolute garbage! Had to replace before 30,000 miles AFTER rotating religiously every 5,000 miles, from day one. Beyond junk. GM should not use these tires at the assembly plants.
Put my first set of Michelin on my truck. Completely improved the ride! Originally came with Bridgestones. Only lasted 35k miles. Tried Cooper next. Lasted about 45k. The Michelins are great on wet back roads. (2wd reg cab shortbed). I have H/T. Purchased at BJS. Great deal.
I think Factory tires are cheaper versions of what is sold at tire shops.
