A new online auction listing is offering a lunch date with GM President Mark Reuss. Proceeds will go to benefit charity. The auction winner will sit down with Reuss in July, and afterwards attend the GM Employee Car Show alongside the automotive executive.
The new auction was posted to Bring a Trailer, and is listed at no reserve. All proceeds, including the auction buyer’s fee, will be donated to the Motorsports Museum and Hall of Fame of America Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on leadership, teamwork, innovation, originality, and competition in American motorsports.
The one-on-one lunch will take place on July 24th, 2024 at the General Motors Global Tech Center in Warren, Michigan. The Global Tech Center was designed by Eero Saarinen, while the campus initially opened in 1956. The site also features the GM Design Auditorium, also known as “The Dome.” The site serves as an innovation center for the automaker’s engineering, design, and technology efforts, as well as the exclusive assembly location for the hand-built, all-electric Cadillac Celestiq ultra-luxury sedan.
Immediately after the lunch, Reuss and the auction winner will attend the General Motors Employee Car Show held on the Tech Center campus. The car show will be closed to the public. The theme for this year’s show will celebrate the 60th anniversary of General Motors A-body vehicles, including the Buick Skylark, Chevy Chevelle, Oldsmobile Cutlass, and Pontiac GTO.
Reuss launched his career at General Motors in 1983 as a student intern, working his way up to serve as VP of Global Engineering between 2013 and 2018. Reuss assumed the role of company president in 2019.
“Is there a cold start video of Mark?” asks one cheeky commenter. “Getting out of bed, pulling at bunched PJs pants, and exhaust sounds. Also, can you post paint meter readings on his teeth?”
The auction will end on Tuesday, April 9th. As of this writing, the highest bid of eight placed thus far is set at $11,000.

But, why?
Its to benefit a Charity. There is a lot of reasons one might want to go to lunch with Reuss. Discuss the ZR-1 incident for one, or what his general philosophy is on vehicle dynamics, etc
All I can bid is 1 dollar
who is paying for the lunch?
My first question would be what happened to you? You used to be a “car guy”.
He would probably answer “I work for Government Motors now, we don’t make cars, we make policy! I would like to go back to making cars but it’s a really tough job market for middle management now! Have you seen how bad the economy is?”
Question number #2 Where is the Equity and Inclusiveness for older dealers?
is gm paying me to date him or whats the deal here
I’d like to go to lunch with him and ask why the “Shift to Park” issue that’s been going on since 2016 hasn’t been addressed. I, of course, bought a 2019 Chevy Blazer RS brand new, only to find out 4 1/2 yrs. later that model and year is on the list of vehicles affected. Then in February 2024, of course the issue started. The dealer said since no recall has been issued, only tech bulletins on the problem, I have to pay for all repairs. This really wants me to trade in a vehicle I really like and planned to keep at least 10 years for a vehicle other than a GM.
He should pay me to have lunch with and have to listen to he crying!
Maybe I can get a replacement engine 6:2 for my 2022 AT4 with 25 miles on it ?
One cent is more than this opportunity is worth.
Boy, this is a tough crowd.
