Cadillac is making big moves in the EV segment, previously announcing plans to go all-electric by the 2030 timeframe. To that end, Caddy has unveiled a bevy of battery-driven models so far, including the 2026 Cadillac Vistiq, which debuted late last year as the luxury marque’s all-new three-row EV crossover. Now, if the rumors hold true, it looks as though the Vistiq may face competition from Lexus with the forthcoming launch of the new Lexus TZ.
According to a recent report from CarBuzz, Toyota is eyeing an expansion to its electric vehicle lineup, including conversion of the Toyota Highlander into an EV-only model. According to the report, the all-electric Highlander will also lead to a Lexus variant dubbed the Lexus TZ, per a trademark filing made last year.
Like the current ICE-powered Highlander and rumored Highlander EV, the TZ is expected to offer three rows of seating. If the rumors are correct and Lexus ends up following through on its plans, the new TZ would serve as direct competition for the three-row 2026 Cadillac Vistiq.
The Cadillac Vistiq was unveiled last December, slotting between the Cadillac Lyriq and Cadillac Escalade IQ with regard to Cadillac’s electric vehicle lineup. The Vistiq is expected to offer a dual-motor GM Ultium Drive powertrain with around 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. The Vistiq is also expected to offer advanced features like rear-wheel steering and a robust suite of technology for passenger comfort and convenience.
Details regarding the Lexus TZ remain highly speculative, but if Toyota’s track record with EVs like the bZ4X and Lexus RZ serve as any indication, the TZ could feature new advances in battery and drivetrain technology.
