The 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 marks the sixth model year of the workhorse Bow Tie pickup’s fourth generation with a handful of notable updates and changes. Here’s a closer look at the Silverado 1500 payload capacities, which differ slightly from the 2023 figures.
Before examining the Silverado 1500 payload specs in-depth, here’s a quick refresher on the offered powerplant lineup, which is comprised of four different engines. These are the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline Turbomax, producing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque; the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, developing 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque; the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine cranking out 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax providing 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.
These engines connect to one of two different transmissions. The GM eight-speed automatic sends the L3B engine’s power to the wheels, while the L84, the L87, and the LZ0 are mated to the GM 10-speed automatic.
With powerplant options listed, here are all the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 payload capacities:

Maximum Silverado 1500 payload capacity is once again provided by the Regular Cab Long Bed 2WD configuration, the hauling champion of the nameplate for many years, with 2,530 pounds of payload possible with the V8 L84 engine. The 4WD variant of this body style and engine option offers the second highest payload capacity at 2,380 pounds.
Meanwhile, the lowest 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 payload rating belongs, also predictably, to an off-road focused variant, with 1,520Â pounds payload for the Crew Cab Short Bed ZR2 trim with the V8 L87 engine equipped.

Similar to its corporate platform-mate, the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500, the 2024 Chevy Silverado is underpinned by the GM T1 platform. Currently, production of the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 takes place at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, the GM Silao plant in Mexico, and the GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

Best part? These numbers won’t be the final number of the actual spec’d and optioned truck. Those are base payloads. As you equip or change trims and options, the actual final payload will vary.
The towing sticker in the door that GM made has the actual final as equipped payload rating.
