GM’s All-New Baojun Yep Plus Interior Design Revealed In China

Ahead of the imminent launch of the all-new Baojun Yep Plus in April, SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) just revealed the interior design of Baojun‘s new all-electric small utility vehicle in China.

General Motors’ second joint venture in the Asian country has just revealed the first official interior design images of the all-new Baojun Yep Plus as part of its marketing strategy for the launch of the extended-length model, which officially turns the Yep EV branding into a family of models. The Yep Plus will go on sale this month in the brand’s dealer network.

Notably, the interior design of the all-new Baojun Yep Plus has some unique features that differentiate it from the cabin of its standard three-door Yep EV counterpart. The most obvious difference is the separate infotainment screen and digital instrument panel of the new Yep Plus, instead of the floating rectangular module that unites both elements in the three-door model.

Although at the moment SGMW did not reveal the size of the screens, the Baojun Yep Plus’ infotainment system screen is noticeably larger than the instrument cluster, has a square shape and is easier to reach. Meanwhile, the driver’s screen is placed in landscape position and recessed a little further in the dashboard, a configuration that apparently improves and optimizes the display behind the steering wheel.

In addition, the all-new Baojun Yep Plus debuts a new wider and higher upholstered center console that integrates an armrest, a smartphone tray and cupholders instead of housing buttons or controls. Under the center console, there’s also a spacious storage bin to store more items. The door panels are also unique with increased padded surfaces and controls for all four windows.

For its part, the all-new Baojun Yep Plus’s rear-seat area is more accommodating, practical and comfortable than that of the standard model thanks to greater overall space and seats with better ergonomics. The elongated body also allows for a trunk with more cargo space, and doesn’t feature rear side windows. The Yep Plus will officially launch during the month of April, when the powertrain configuration and all remaining official details will be announced.

  1. Should GM bring this here to the states? It might be too small for the US market (googled the length 157″, for perspective the 1st gen Trax was 168″). I think this would be great for city dwellers who want some utility – not everyone wants a huge SUV. It reminds a little of the old Honda Element. Also love the light colored interior – not the typical “just black” that is so prevalent in GM vehicles nowadays.

  2. The Bronco Sport has been in this segment since 2022.

  3. They should really see what customers loved about the Element and make this a customizable easy to clean (inside and out) vehicle. Simplify and minimize the electronics or at least offer simple trims. this could really take off. Dont make this a $40K vehicle… make it a $20K vehicle and really get into the customization market.

They really have something here! Change the Name for the US Market.. Chevy Rucker…. Look into all the Element Forums…
