GM’s 2024 Baojun Yep EV Officially Announced In China

SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), General Motors’ second joint venture in China, has just officially announced the 2024 Baojun Yep EV in the Asian country.

The automaker announced the 2024 Baojun Yep EV range that introduces the second model year of the all-electric mini crossover in China, more than a year after the official debut of the little Yep in early 2023. In addition to publishing images and updates regarding the zero-emission vehicle, the company stated that it will launch the 2024 Yep EV in the middle of this month in the Chinese market.

In particular, the 2024 standard three-door Baojun Yep EV range will receive some minor tweaks to keep up with the market and prepare for the imminent arrival of the all-new five-door Baojun Yep Plus. The changes to the 2024 Yep EV range only cover an updated paint color palette, new alloy wheels, a new all-black interior colorway and a small adjustment to the trim level designations.

In addition to the five striking body colors available on the current model, the 2024 Baojun Yep EV adds three new, more discreet colors called Cloud Sea White, Mountain Fog Gray and Ray Blue to the offering. At the same time, the 2024 Yep also adopts new two-tone multi-spoke wheels with gloss black accents that reinforce its appearance and add a touch of sophistication.

SGMW indicates that the 2024 Baojun Yep EV will continue to be offered in two different variants that will now be called Flagship and Zhizun – from the current Ultimate and Zhizun Edition. Both will be offered with a full suite of technology and safety features, as well as the same existing powertrain consisting of a single permanent magnet motor developing 50 kW or 67 horsepower.

The 2024 Baojun Yep EV will launch imminently and be available for sale in mid-April throughout the Baojun dealer network in China, the only country where GM’s youngest brand is officially marketed. The Yep EV uses an elevated variant of the Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform and is equipped with a 28.1 kWh battery with a certified driving range of 303 km or 188 miles on a full charge, according to the China Light Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC).

  2. If GM had the right frame of mind they could sell more Yeps in the USA than they could ever dream possible. They cost about $12000 in China. If they priced them at $15-18,000 here in the States, customers would stand in line to buy them.
OF COURSE, that will never happen.
