The GMC Hummer EV is nothing short of a technological powerhouse, boasting a variety of interesting (and entertaining) features for improved maneuverability, capability, performance, and comfort. Now, GM is promoting several of these features in a new video advertisement.
Clocking in at 30 seconds, the ad shows both the GMC Hummer EV Pickup and the GMC Hummer SUVÂ and includes slick editing paired with upbeat music as the various Hummer EV features are demonstrated.
First up, we have CrabWalk mode. While also useful for navigating tight off-road trails, the video shows CrabWalk mode in use in a tight alleyway in the city. As the GMC Hummer EV SUV pulls up to a truck and dumpster blocking the alley, the driver activates CrabWalk mode to turn the rear wheels in parallel with the front wheels, moving the Hummer sideways around the obstacles.
The next clip shows Extract Mode, which lifts the onboard Air Ride Adaptive Suspension by nearly six inches, allowing the off-roader to easily clear ruts and other off-road impediments.
Watts To Freedom mode is also demonstrated. WTF Mode essentially unlocks the powertrain’s full potential, while also lowering the Air Suspension and prepping the vehicle for launch. Fully unleashed, the GMC Hummer EV can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds thanks to upwards of 1,000 all-electric horsepower.
Finally, we look at the GM Super Cruise system, the automaker’s semi-autonomous driver assist system. This system enables the driver to remove their hands from the steering wheel along select stretches of North American roads. GM recently expanded Super Cruise coverage to include 750,000 miles of roads in the U.S. and Canada.

As a reminder, the GMC Hummer EV features GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors, riding on the GM BT1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

LOL. This thing is one of the dumbest wannabe status symbols that I can remember.
You can’t polish a turd.
Just what the heck is this PoS going to do if it has run its battery down trying to get out of a hole in the back country?
Oh, I forgot; it’ll crab walk its way out or they’ll call someone to bring ’em 5 gallons of electrons!
What a joke!

A bunch of useless gimmicks.
Like it or not, Hummer technology remains among the best in the industry. No ev before the Hummer featured four-wheel steering. This may weigh 9,000 lbs, however, could still outperform most vehicles in a quarter-mile race. This vehicle is consistent with the previous generation Hummer and targets a specific demographic. To me, it served as a proof of concept that paved the way for the Silverado EV and the Sierra EV.
Ummm four wheel steering existed long before the hummer. Remember Quadrasteer?
The Hummer fanboys are gasping at straws to try and excuse away their environmentally destructive monstrosity.
All it needs is a flux capacitor and a cold fusion generator (in an anti-terror housing)!
