GMC Hummer EV Makes Top 10 List Of Most Popular Luxury EVs

The GMC Hummer EV made its formal introduction for the 2022 model year as a battery-driven pickup ready to conquer the local trails, with the Hummer EV SUV body style debuting later for the 2024 model year. Packed with impressive specs and technology, the GMC Hummer EV is more than capable of getting some attention. Now, that characteristic is reflected in a new study.

According to a recent study from Rerev, the all-electric GMC off-roader was eighth on the list of the ten most-popular luxury EVs. The study focused on Google search volume, plus searches for vehicle range, specs, and features. The study did not look at EV sales, but rather highlighted consumer interest and engagement levels with various EVs, while also serving as a potential indicator of market trends and brand awareness – all crucial aspects in the ongoing EV transition.

According to the study, the GMC’s all-electric off-roader was targeted in 31,400 searches. By comparison, the top-ranked luxury EV, the 2024 Lucid Air, generated 882,000 searches, while the second-ranked Porsche Taycan generated 810,000 searches and the third-ranked 2024 Tesla Model S generated 654,000 searches. The Mercedes-Benz EQS, Rolls-Royce Spectre, Rimac Nevera, Cadillac Celestiq, and Lotus Evija were also on the list.

Compared to some of the other entries, the GMC Hummer EV is relatively affordable, starting under $100,000. Compare that price tag to the ultra-luxury Cadillac Celestiq, which starts at $340,000, or the $2.2 million Lotus Evija. The all-electric GMC off-roader is also notable for being the only model on the list available in a pickup truck body style.

As a reminder, the all-electric GMC off-roader equips GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors, riding on the GM BT1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

    1. Clicks are one thing. The reality is they’re only selling 500-600 units a month so they’re quite rare. Whether that’s demand or production constrained it’s very not clear.

Would have been nice to see that mentioned in the story.

  4. GMC has only sold 5000 of these in three years!! It has to be the worse selling vehicle in GM’s history.

    1. Andrew: Tell me about it. Even with the Malibu selling in fairly good numbers, GM still doesn’t give it any love or real updates. But if any sedan sold in the numbers that these fat pigs sell in, GM would have crushed them already.
