Being a hothead behind the wheel is a surefire way to get in some trouble, and quickly. After all, it won’t take long before you inevitably run into another hothead, potentially leading to some very poor decisions from both parties. Looking at this video, that certainly appears to be the case after a Chevy Silverado driver encountered a group of motorcyclists.
Recently making the rounds on social media, the video doesn’t provide much context, but rather highlights the bad behavior from both the Chevy Silverado driver and the bikers. The video shows the driver behind the wheel of a Silverado Z71 rudely gesture at a biker out the driver’s side window, as captured by a camera carried by the motorcyclist. The Chevy Silverado driver then quickly accelerates away, passing another biker without much margin.
The video then shifts to a rearward facing camera, which shows the Chevy Silverado driver tailgating one of the bikers. The Silverado driver is clearly frustrated, and stays only a few feet off the rear tire of the motorcycle. After a while, the biker decides to stop in a “rolling roadblock.”
The other bikers pull up alongside the Chevy Silverado. One of the bikers appears to be arguing with the Silverado driver near the truck’s driver’s side window. As the two exchange words, the biker with the rearward-facing camera walks towards the truck on the passenger’s side, reaching into their pocket for something. We then see the biker on the passenger’s side slash the rear tire on the Chevy Silverado with a pocket knife before walking up to the front tire and doing the same thing. We hear what sounds like the air escaping from the now-punctured tire. The biker then casually walks back to their motorcycle.

While this is all undoubtedly very stupid on the part of both the Chevy Silverado driver and the bikers, was it justified to slash the tires on the Silverado? We don’t know the whole story, but I will comment on what information we have been provided:
As a motorcyclist myself, this entire situation is sheer buffoonery. Tailing motorcycles is very dangerous and aggravates me to no end. Give them space. With this being said, the bikers appear to have done something wrong to warrant the middle finger (lane cutting, stunting or dangerous riding in general). Then, for the bikers to vandalize the truck, this simply compounds the problem.
If a biker is riding dangerously, simply try to avoid them at all costs: Pull over, slow down, etc..
There is too much foolishness in this video to fully comprehend. Oy vey…
In the roar of an engine, he lost everything… and became a shell of a man… a burnt-out, desolate man, a man haunted by the demons of his past, a man who wandered out into the wasteland. And it was here, in this blighted place, that he learned to live again.
As stated it’s difficult to know the full story behind the actions. I will say however that a tailgating is never acceptable and it is never acceptable to endanger the lives of anyone that is as exposed to injury and death as a motorcyclist.
I do not condone any of these actions but one thing that is very very likely as a result of this is that the truck driver will never do this to a motorcyclist again. That is a good thing.
Either that … or he’ll take a different approach and do something worse than tailgating, because he’s been “traumatized” by these motorcyclists, and will think they’re all out to get him … so he feels like he must defend himself from the same thing happening again. (Or at least that’s probably what his lawyer would argue, even though it’s total BS). I would almost GUARANTEE that the bikers did something stupid to get the reaction from the pickup driver, but since they were the ones recording it all with helmet mounted cams most likely, we’ll only see what they want us to see to get sympathy, saying something like, “I don’t know why, but this guy just went nuts when we tried to pass him.”
bikers: call the police or de-escalate the situation?
also bikers: nah, lets potentially get an aggravated assault charge instead.
Truck driver having meal with wife at truck stop. Ten bikers come in, eat his food, drink his drink and rough him up a little. He pays bill and quietly leaves. While waitress cleans up the mess, bikers remark to her that he wasn’t much of a man for not fighting back. She replies, “He wasn’t much of a truck driver either as he ran over 10 Harleys leaving the parking lot!”.
It’s stupid on both parts. To prove who’s right or who’s wrong will only cost either damage to vehicles or even a lost of human life. How many times have you retaliated and after it’s all done and said, you’re now cooled down and come to your senses, said in your heart “I should have walked away from the situation”. The truck owner has to fork over $1,000 for new tires. What a price to pay for your hot temper. Go figure
The moment he stuck that knife in my tire I would have floored the gas pedal and destroyed his motorcycle by running it over.
Mike,
Absolutely!!
I’m a biker, as well as, a driving enthusiast. I agree with other commenters that something else preceded this macho temper tantrum. But, without knowing what that was, being tailgated on a motorcycle – especially at speed – is still a death trap and is scary. My advise has always been to pull over – let the idiot pass – and live to ride another day. Thank goodness nobody pulled a gun. You know someone in there had one.
Stupid is then stupid does. People just cant seem to just chill out anymore. Hate to say it but glad Im 68 and dont have to be around much longer with all this crap that seems to be the norm these days, what the hell is wrong with people. Me me me, screw anyone else seems to be the new moto, unbelievable.
If you’re going to play tough guy behind the wheel be ready for the pushback and consequences. Let it go, it’s not worth it.
EdTom,
So car drivers just have to put up with motorcyclists’ bad behavior?
Just let it go?
Is that what you’re saying?
Unfortunately the way some individuals overreact and behave without any regard for anyone else and the consequences that’s exactly what I’m saying. God forbid, If you ever find yourself on the business end of a weapon held by one of these irrational nuts you’ll know what I’m saying. Goes against my grain also, but sometimes it’s a lot easier “to let it go”
Unfortunately law enforcement is pretty lax in regards to reckless driving unless it is recorded or viewed by a police officer. You can press charges but it is often a he-said she said type of thing and nothing moves forward.
It’s about time the-powers-that-be give motorists some leeway in taking care of these motorcyclists that behave badly.
Good way to get shot. People r crazy now.
I truly feel bad for “good” motorcyclists. Because 99% of your brethren are absolute idiots and shouldn’t have licenses.
I mean truly, that goes for car drivers too, but motorcyclists are already at a huge disadvantage when it comes to survivability, but the vast, vast majority don’t ride like that’s a fact.
First of all let’s stop calling these jokers “bikers. More often than not they act like jackas*** riding rice bikes that aren’t street legal. No mirrors or turn signals. I don’t know if their bikes were crotch rockets or not, didn’t watch video. Nevertheless, most of them endanger the other motorists generally speaking. The man in the truck has culpability as well, he instigated the bad behavior by tailgating. So everyone acted irrationally! Someone commented earlier that he was surprised the truck didn’t flatten the motorcycles. I’ve seen this happen. I ride a H-D touring bike but really don’t look at myself as a biker. Bikers are people that eat sleep & ride rain or shine or are one percenters, these are true bikers inmho.
Tailgaters are the reason I always kept a pouch of marbles on my handlebars…just nonchalantly flip one or two behind you and they’ll back off. Some of my ex-riding buddies used ball bearings, I wasn’t that cruel. I don’t ride as much anymore due to texting-while-driving idiots, left-lane lizards who block the flow of traffic, and failure of jurisdictions for not enforcing mandatory insurance laws.
Rick is right about people,no one respects anyone else anymore.I have these clowns driving pickup trucks that ride my ass while going down the road or they pull up real close to my bumper at a stop light.I had a motorcycle pas me on I-75 going thru Dayton just recently doing probably 120 mph weaving in and out of traffic.Im guessing he wanted to die.People need to quit being so ignorant and disrespectful.
Check the full video below which doesn’t show the gang of ashats starting the entire thing. Bikers are like little boys, the more of them there are in a group, the more likely they are to misbehave.
Oh it’s not even necessary to guess the bikers started things by being the idiots 99% of them are. Out driving, if you see a biker, you will see them break some law, if not multiple. It’s bad enough that the behavior shown in video is the expectation rather than the exception. No one needs to give examples, because anyone that’s driven for a week in decent weather, knows the poor behavior is the norm for bikers.
Not that tit for tat from drivers is acceptable either. While satisfying on a visceral level, it’s a game that every adult loses, by behaving like a child.
The way the biker went for the tires it appears as if this wasn’t his first time doing that. My tires your crushed bike.
I’m surprised he didn’t just truck them.
I love how most people said the “motorcyclists” MUST have done something. That’s hasn’t been my experience with over 30 years in the saddle. It’s usually someone who is having a bad day or HAD a bad day with other cyclists or drivers and since “we” don’t have cages around us. It’s “easier”. Also. The stupid divide that is happening in Murica right now has everyone on edge and being pricks. Everything that people are standing up for is the polar opposite of what people are, actually standing up for.
Ok, I’ll play a game of lowest IQ loses. Say the video in its entirety is the truth. Truck driver is a moron. It’s not unlikely he’s a terrible driver and person, there are far too many.
However. In this video, I see motorcyclists stop traffic, dismount their bikes, engage the driver AND produce a weapon and cause physical damage to the truck.
If you can’t condemn the MOTORCYCLISTS conduct, like any reasonable person can condemn the truck drivers tailgating, then you are part of the problem. If you havent already noticed. It’s clear you don’t drive much, or are a motorcyclist yourself, because everyone else has numerous stories of idiotic cyclists. My personal favorite was one lucky coworker…he only trashed his bike and got some scars when he lost control while “stunting” on the freeway.
So yeah, everyone knows most likely the cyclists were being typical cyclists, pretending to own the road.
