The Chevy Colorado was one of the fastest-selling new vehicles in March of 2024, according to a recent study. The news comes at a time when new car sales, in general, are slowing down while used car sales are accelerating. The study points to hybrid models as the fastest-turning vehicles in both the new and used market, while all-electric vehicles are the slowest-turning vehicles in both the new and used market.
The new insights were published by automotive data and research company iSeeCars, which analyzed more than 463,000 new and used car sales. The study focused on the average period in which vehicles remained on the market before being sold. The study methodology excluded low-volume vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles, and models no longer in production as of the 2023 model year.
According to the study, the Chevy Colorado bucked broader industry trends to post an average of 23.8 days on the market, significantly lower than a figure of 54 days on the market posted for the average new car. The study also highlights how new car sales have slowed by 26 percent while used cars are now selling 31 percent faster.
With an average of 23.8 days on the market, the Chevy Colorado placed sixth on the list of the 20 fastest-selling new cars during March of 2024. It slotted underneath the GMC Canyon, which posted an average of 23.0 days on the market, and above the Toyota Grand Highlander, which posted an average of 24.4 days on the market. Notably, the Chevy Colorado outpaced several highly desirable luxury vehicles, including the Cadillac Escalade, which ranked eighth with an average of 26.2 days on the market.
Meanwhile, used car sales continue to accelerate, with used cars averaging 34.2 days on the market. The quickest-selling used car was the Lexus RX 350h, which averaged 12.3 days on the market. With regard to the used car market, the iSeeCars analysis looked at one- to five-year-old vehicles.
As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Colorado offers two engine options: the turbocharged 2.7 I4 L2R gasoline engine and the TurboMax 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine. The updated GM 31XX platform provides the underpinnings, while production occurs at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

23 days on the market for a new one…well that’s funny, here in Canada 🇨🇦 you can’t even get one…I ordered one in Oct 23..no go…Ordered another in Jan 24…rumor has it it may be built in may 24…I’ll believe it when I see it.
Built, is the key word you used. I work there, and we run the line 6 days a week 24 hrs a day. So where gm is putting them idk
Maybe there are ratholing them as leverage to maintain the higher prices.
To bad the gmc 1500 doesn’t fit in the garage, would have had one a year ago
I am having the same thoughts!
All of the production seems to be going to the USA, nothing is coming to Canada.
I order a Z71 almost 3 months ago and still do not have a build date.
I feel you pain 😞
I wish audi made a full frame pick up…id’e buy it in a heart beat
How many do you build per shift? Seen a couple here in Calgary. Saw a beautiful AT4x in this cinnamon red colour and black accents. Best looking mid size truck I’ve seen. Want to order one but salesman here says I might not see it before Hallowe’en, 6 months!! Can’t get many here. Frustrating.
I ordered a Canyon Denali in March, 2023, and then dropped that order, that wasn’t going anywhere, and re-ordered from a bigger dealer last month. Still waiting on an order number. I hope I don’t have to go through this wait and see business again. What the hell is GM thinking?
I believe the timer for time on market doesn’t stop until the buyer actually receives the vehicle, so transit time between the factory and the dealership and everything in between is included.
0rdered 2023 June 2023. Had to reorder Dec for a 20224. Built March 2024. Came in yesterday. Picking up today. Dealer not happy with GM. Great dealer who even honored trade in 2018 with 20,000 additional miles
GM let orders for the Colorado and Canyon build up for months after production started and are just now shipping those orders… The improvement in the number of days on the market was manufactured and totally unwelcomed by dealers and consumers both.
Test drove a ’24 LT Colorado. Was not impressed, noisey engine, shifts funny & constantly, inside very plastic-y. I my be used to my ’22 Canyon Denali, V6…. 4cyl is no good, can’t imagine towing something with it.
Looking elsewhere….. maybe Ridgeline…
I’ve had 3 Colorados in the past, sorry to get away from Chevy.
Well many a little research , the LT comes with the 237 hp engine and lower torque. It is noisier than the 27 with 310 hp and 430 lb of torque. I too have a V6 Colorado , Z71 4WD crew cab. The high output 27 is much faster than my V6 and is quieter.
As far as interiors go, the Chevy Colorado has always had lower end plastics vs GMC Canyons. Go check out the Canyon, especially the Denali for interior plastics – I think it’s quite plush.
You should try the 24 Toyota taco, sounds like its running on 2 cylinders at low speed and the A pillar spacing is enough to give you claustrophobia…the difference between the chev Colorado and gmc canyon is night and day
I love how they choose to view things. The reason the turn rate is so good is because the only thing harder to find than a new Colorado is a Unicorn riding a tricycle! There has been almost zero availability since the strike.
thats because they have been MIA for months. Guess GM’s “plan” is working.
The new Colorado would be a massive hit if GM would build enough to meet demand. The plan was never to sell a lot of these mid sizers , they do not have the capacity to build more than 150k a year including the GMC. if GM were serious there would be a second plant.
The dealer lots are full of the FS cash cows, and GM knows if production of the mid-sizers was enough to meet demand it would put a serious dent in volume of the FS pickups and profit as a whole. If you want a mid size, you have to suck it up and wait.
Wait till the KIA truck appears, maybe 25? Then deal with the “Greed” factor with the idiot dealers. If anything like a Telluride it will be 4 years before the stupidity goes away and there’s actually one on a lot somewhere. Anyway it’s going to be an awesome vehicle taking sales from Toyota.
Some people are now reluctant in buying Chevrolet especially with GM engines, since the discontinuation of the LWN 2.8 Duramax. Especially in Asian Countries. Spare parts are out of stocks. What if the Chevrolet suddenly discontinue again that new model after just few years? Will Chevy leave us again in the air as what had happened in the LWN DURAMAX ?
No Colorado for the Asian market 😑
My Colorado ZR2 order was accepted on 3-20-24, built on 4-9-24, it’s sitting in Missouri waiting to ship.
It was built quicker than i thought. But, I don’t have it yet. Good news, here in Colorado, my dealer is offering
$1000 off MSRP, which applied to my ordered ZR2. That’s shocking! I’ve only seen one ZR2 in my small Mountain town, now there will be two Sand Dunne Metallic ZR2’s passing all the tacos……:)
No shock here there’re selling like hotcakes. You couldn’t get one for three (3) months or more, now there’re showing up. It’s also spring, prime selling time.
We can’t get any Colorados or Canyons in Atlantic Canada. A shame, but I need a vehicle and I will look elsewhere. At least Toyota, Honda and even Ford (!) finally have some stock in.
