Bucking the overall trend of declining days supply as spring sales increase, new vehicle inventory at Cadillac dealerships rose somewhat during March 2024, growing to 63 days supply by the end of the month.
This represents a three-day increase from the 60 days supply Cadillac dealers had on hand in January of this year. The data from Cox Automotive indicates the change but provides no additional details on whether the rise in days supply results from rapidly rising inventory, somewhat weaker than average Caddy sales, or both.
The 63 days supply of new vehicles at Cadillac dealers means that the current sales volume could continue for 63 days before the vehicles ran out, assuming no further stock arrived. The number is very close to the 60 days supply considered optimal across the auto industry by both automakers and analysts.
Cadillac has the lowest inventory relative to sales volume of any of GM’s four main brands. Chevy has 69 days supply, just below the industry average of 72 days supply at the end of March for the U.S. market. Both Buick and GMC were slightly above average at 76 days supply each for the month. The other three brands all saw inventory decline slightly at the same time Cadillac’s was increasing.
Trends across the auto market showed a strong pipeline of new vehicles being sent to American dealerships in March. While spring sales are gathering momentum, total inventory edged upward from 2.74 million units at the end of February to 2.77 million at the end of March. At the same time, days supply fell as sales volume grew, depleting stocks of vehicles faster.
Sales in March were 11 percent higher year-over-year in 2024, highlighting the market’s return to normal conditions after the long aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns. Cox believes the data shows 2024 will have the best sales since the year before the pandemic, 2019, with March volume indicating an annualized rate of 15.5 million vehicles.
The trend was already visible in January, with sales up 9 percent year-over-year.

I might be wrong but Cadillac’s inventory will see a large supply of unsold cars when they go all EV , right now everyone is scrambling to get their hands on an ICE car before it’s to late .
