C7 Chevy Corvette Z06 Driver Busted After Hitting Patrol Car, Taunting Cops: Video

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police in Mecklenburg County has announced the arrest of an individual who posted multiple videos outrunning law enforcement in his C7 Chevy Corvette Z06. Law enforcement identified and located the driver using his social media account. The driver is also facing possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, assault with a deadly weapon, and hit/run property damage, among other charges.

The suspect allegedly posted footage to the @thestolenz06 Instagram account showing a C7 Corvette Z06 easily outrunning police in multiple traffic stops. In the videos, a blacked-out Vette with no license plate is seen baiting police into a chase, only to quickly disappear as the driver puts their foot to the floor, blue flames shooting out the central exhaust pipes. As a reminder, the C7 Z06 is equipped from the factory with the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which is rated at 650 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 650 pound-feet of torque at 3,600 rpm, sending the sports car from a standstill to 60 mph in as little as three seconds.

However, earlier this week, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police posted to the CMPD News feed on X (@CMPD) that the Corvette featured in those getaway videos had been seized. Police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Carlos Clark, who was apparently targeted in a SCARLET (Stolen Car and Recovery Law Enforcement Team) investigation on March 18th, 2024. Law enforcement identified the owner of the vehicle using the social media account that posted the getaway videos.

The vehicle is reportedly not stolen. However, law enforcement did state that on March 28th, 2024, officers located the vehicle and attempted a stop. The vehicle then allegedly intentionally struck a patrol vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed. SCARLET detectives were notified, and Mr. Clark was located at his residence and arrested.

In addition to seizing the Chevy Corvette Z06, police also seized over 100 pounds of THC vials, 10 pounds of THC edibles, 3.6 pounds of psilocybin-infused chocolates, 18.8 pounds of pre-rolled blunts, four pounds of marijuana resin, 3.6 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, an AK47, two AR15s, a pistol, and nearly $2,000 in cash.

Law enforcement also posted a video using footage from the @thestolenz06 Instagram account boasting “you can run but you can’t hide”:

According to police, Clark is now charged with:

  • Felony Flee/Elude Arrest with Motor Vehicle
  • Hit/Run Property Damage – Reckless Driving
  • Assault with Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting Public Officer
  • Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Distribute
  • Alter/Steal/Destroy Criminal Evidence
  • Possession Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession Marijuana Paraphernalia
