Kelley Blue Book and Cox Automotive recently announced the winners of the 2024 Consumer Choice Awards, and Buick was recognized as the Best Value Luxury Brand.
The 2024 Consumer Choice Awards (formerly the Brand Image Awards) exist to “recognize automakers’ outstanding achievements in creating and maintaining brand attributes that earn the attention and enthusiasm of new-car buyers,” according to the research firm. The awards are based on consumer automotive perception data from KBB‘s Brand Watch study, an online brand and model perception tracking study that examines more than 12,000 in-market new-vehicle shoppers annually. The study provides insight into how shoppers perceive important factors that help determine their purchase decisions, along with what captures brand and model familiarity and purchase consideration among new-car shoppers.
Buick knocked Tesla from the top spot in the Best Value Luxury Brand category. Previously, Tesla had held the honors for four consecutive years, but slow growth in electric vehicle sales and tighter competition demoted the all-electric automaker this year. KBB notes that brands that offer a selection of powertrains, a fresh lineup of vehicles, and prioritize quality, design and innovation tended to perform better in this year’s awards, putting Buick out front for the first time in its competitive bracket.
Other winners in the luxury brand category include Lexus, which swept both the Best Overall Luxury Brand and Most Trusted Luxury Brand categories, while Mercedes-Benz also claimed two awards, recognized as the Most Refined Luxury Brand and Best Car Styling Luxury Brand. Porsche earned the title of Best Performance Luxury Brand.
In fact, Buick was the only brand under the General Motors umbrella to make the cut in this year’s study. As far as mass-market brands go, Honda was the clear-cut winner, scoring five out of six awards for non-luxury brands, while also being recognized as the Best Overall EV/Hybrid Brand.

Fantastic, Buick!
Buick! Who knew! Fantastic award with compliments to the entire Buick team!
I knew! So do a lot of growing Buick buyers.
Still driving my ’07 Lucerne CXL. Now have my second Envision… love it! Very disappointed Buick abandoned the distinctive grille. Front end now looks like many other SUVs on the road.
I love my 2022 Buick Essence
I own 3 Buick’s! 2005 LaCrosse CXL, 2009 Lucerne CXL Special Edition, 2011 Buick LaCrosse CXS. Beautiful ride and comfortable sedans. Buick needs to bring back a sedan, otherwise I’ll be forced to buy a Lexus sedan when I’m ready to buy. Not a fan of SUV’S!
What can I say, just returned from a weekend trip to the Georgia mountains in my 2007 Rainier. Took on the gravel roads in luxury!
