The SAIC-GM joint venture just announced that the all-new Chevy Equinox EV will debut imminently in China.
General Motors’ main joint venture in China announced that the all-new Chevy Equinox EV will debut on April 25th during the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China), which will be open to the public in the Chinese capital until May 4th. The all-electric Equinox will be one of the company’s biggest novelties at the event, which is the most important automotive exhibition in the Asian country.
Notably, the all-new Chevy Equinox EV will become Chevrolet‘s first zero-emissions vehicle based on the Ultium architecture to be debuted and introduced in China – where the brand’s current electric vehicle offering is lagging behind the growing portfolio of models in North America. As such, the Equinox EV is responsible for kick-starting Chevy’s next-generation EV onslaught on the Chinese market.
In fact, SAIC-GM’s official announcement confirms the two reports published by GM Authority since the first leak of the all-new Chevy Equinox EV in China – as we exclusively anticipated that the crossover would be the Bow Tie brand’s first Ultium-based electric vehicle manufactured and marketed in the largest automotive market in the world. The new Equinox EV will increase the manufacturer’s local production volume of Ultium batteries and electric vehicles.
According to future product statements previously leaked by Chinese authorities, the all-new Chevy Equinox EV will be available with at least three different trim levels in China. This includes the sporty RS with AWD drive and two additional front-wheel-drive variants equivalent to the 1LT and 3LT trims of the model in North America. Each will have its own powertrain configuration with different power outputs.
The all-new Chevy Equinox EV will debut imminently during 2024 Auto China, when SAIC-GM will announce official details about the model’s configurations and equipment levels for the Chinese market. Additionally, the manufacturer is also expected to indicate a more specific timeline for the arrival of the Equinox EV at local dealerships.

All these new EV GM cars debuting in China and Chile, but what about doing the same for the poor US? When are we going to get invited to the party? It’s as if we don’t matter any more!
The Equinox EV has been announced in the US already. The configuration site is live.

Awesome, let’s go get one! Wait, there aren’t any at the dealer and the ones showing up as in transit are all gone off the local dealer’s website? They probably figured everyone was waiting on the Equinox EV instead of buying Blazer EV’s and are slowing them down once again, or maybe it’s their time for a predelivery stop sale.
