All-New 2025 Chevy Equinox Offers Many New Safety Features

As is usually the case with the introduction of a next-generation vehicle, the 2025 Chevy Equinox offers up a host of new safety features that weren’t previously found in the outgoing model. Below, GM Authority delves into the advanced safety tech onboard the all-new crossover.

The following table shows the active safety features found on the 2025 Chevy Equinox, comparing its tech to the outgoing 2024 Chevy Equinox.

While the 2024 Chevy Equinox was already fitted with several standard safety features, the inbound 2025 Equinox builds on those safety features with enhanced, more capable technology. For example, note that both models boast Automatic Emergency Braking, but the 2025 Equinox also features Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking along with Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking. The 2025 Equinox also gets advanced features like bicyclist detection, while the the blind zone monitoring system not only alerts the driver when a vehicle is in a blind spot, but the system will try to prevent a possible impact by activating the steering assist.

Meanwhile, the Safety Alert Seat, which vibrates the driver’s seat cushion if the possibility of an impact is detected, is standard on the 2025 Chevy Equinox across all trims, including LT, Activ, and RS. Previously, this tech was standard only on the range-topping Premier trim for the 2024 Equinox.

However, it’s worth noting that Lane Change Alert and Blind Zone Alert, as well as Rear Cross Traffic Alert, were previously optional on the base 2024 Equinox LS trim. This trim has since been deleted for the 2025 model year, and both aforementioned features are not offered at all on the all-new 2025 Equinox.

Additionally, in order to acquire Rear Pedestrian Alert for the 2025 Equinox, the Safety and Technology Package (RPO code CWM) must be added to the crossover. This package is offered as an optional extra on all three Equinox trims.

Under the hood, the 2025 Equinox harnesses the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine. This engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) for front-wheel-drive models, while all-wheel-drive variants feature the GM eight-speed automatic transmission. The GM D2 platform provides the bones.

    1. Attractive, almost quirky design language. Makes the EV look stale in comparison. Why 2 designs? Kinda looks like a Trailblazer
