Testing of the updated 2026 Ram HD truck is now well under way, with a prototype of the refreshed 2026 Ram 2500 HD Rebel recently passing in front of the lenses of our spy photographers. Updates will include new styling and possibly new engine tech, continuing the sportier HD line launched in 2023. The 2026 Ram HD Rebel will serve as a rival to Chevy Silverado HD Trail Boss.
Looking over the photos, we find the prototype covered in heavy vinyl camouflage front and back, with signs that the forthcoming refresh will incorporate a new headlight design, as well as a redesigned grille. The Rebel 1500’s face was toned-down as part of its overhaul, and it looks like the HD Rebel will get a similar treatment. The new HD grille will incorporate a horizontal design that visually connects the two headlights, while the current Rebel’s “handlebar mustache” appears as though it will be phased out in the refresh. Also notable are Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires, as seen on this 2026 Rebel HD prototype.
Under the hood, the 2026 Ram HD is expected to equip a few powertrain updates, although the details of those updates remain to be seen. The overhauled Ram 1500 received the Hurricane inline six-cylinder, but it’s currently unclear if the Ram HD will incorporate something similar. Some reports indicate the possible inclusion of hydrogen fuel cell technology in the brand’s large vans and HD trucks, possibly even launching some time in late-2025, thus lining up nicely with the debut of the refreshed 2026 Ram HD.
Ram’s refreshed HD trucks will also sport a series of interior technology upgrades. This prototype, for example, is seen with a new radar panel equipped below the grille, while a camouflaged interior suggests cabin layout changes as well.

The real question is when will they update the HD RAM cab? It was first put on those trucks when GWB was still president.
It’s the smallest cab of the big three, and while the materials are nice, it’s a tough pill to swallow sitting in one back to back with either GM/Ford.
Amen. Spot on. Just completely baffled why they decided to kick this can down the road again
