While details about updates and changes the model year 2025 GMC Hummer EV start trickling in, such as the cancelation of the base 2 trim level, GM Authority has learned that The General intends to drop four exterior paint colors from the vehicle’s available palette.
Meanwhile, two new paint colors will be added to the lineup of available 2025 GMC Hummer EV exterior finishes as indirect replacements for the four removed from the list. These changes apply to both the GMC Hummer EV Pickup and the GMC Hummer EV SUV.
The four paint colors that will be removed from availability for the 2025 model year include the following (relevant color code in parenthesis):
- Afterburner Tintcoat (GC5)
- Moonshot Green Matte (G7W)
- Neptune Blue Matte (GLG)
- Supernova Metallic (GKK)
Afterburner Tintcoat and Supernova Metallic were both first introduced on the 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup. Moonshot Green Matte is an exclusive color for the GMC Hummer SUV Edition 1, while Neptune Blue Matte is an exclusive color for the Omega Edition of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup and SUV. Afterburner Tintcoat and Supernova Metallic are extra-charge options priced at $1,225 and $625 respectively, while Neptune Blue Matte is part of the $23,360 Omega Edition content and has no separate pricing.
The two new colors slated to be introduced to the 2025 GMC Hummer EV include Graphite Blue Metallic (color code GAI) and Solar Orange (color code GAG). Notably, Graphite Blue Metallic has the same color code as the Deep Space Metallic exterior paint color Cadillac offers on some of its models, including the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ and the 2025 Cadillac CT5.
Solar Orange also appears on several recent models from The General, called Habanero for other brands. The color is expected to be available on forthcoming Chevy Silverado EV trim levels such as the Trail Boss, and was also displayed on the Cadillac Celestiq EV flagship sedan when it was seen on the streets of Manhattan outside the Zero Bond private social club, being inspected by tennis star Frances Tiafoe.
The 2025 GMC Hummer EV will carry over many of the 2024 model year’s characteristics and features. Under the skin, all Hummer EV variants are supported by the GM BT1 platform. Motivation is provided by two or three GM Ultium Drive motors depending on trim level, with GM Ultium battery technology supplying the energy to run them.
Production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant (formerly known as the GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant) in Michigan.
