2024 Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance Costs $10K Less Than Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing

The pricing for the Mercedes rival to the 2024 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance, was just announced, revealing that the hard-charging hybrid has a starting price that’s nearly $11,000 lower than its Caddy competitor, while offering much the same level of power.

We’ve had our eye on the latest model year of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 since the German automaker staged its reveal in autumn 2022, showcasing its specs and features but at that time staying quiet about its pricing and planned release date… until now.

Pricing for the Performance trim of the 2024 Mercedes-AMG C 63 starts at $85,050, while the Performance Pinnacle trim has a higher starting MSRP. The Performance Pinnacle model features augmented video navigation and a head-up display (HUD), similar to that found in the 2024 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. The table below compares the prices of the 2024 CT5-V Blackwing and all-new C 63.

As can be seen, the Performance Pinnacle trim level, which is the closest match to the CT5-V Blackwing with the 10-speed automatic transmission and the aforementioned HUD, is priced to start $87,100, or $10,965 less than the CT5-V Blackwing’s $98,065 starting price.

As a reminder, the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 is a hybrid vehicle with a turbocharged 2.0L inline-four gasoline engine mated to a two-speed electric motor. The 2.0L I4 engine supplies power to the front axle while the electric motor motivates the rear axle, developing a combined 671 horsepower and 752 pound-feet of torque. The model can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.3 seconds. It is also AWD, while the philosophy of the CT5-V Blackwing and other V-series vehicles mean they are offered in RWD only.

The C 63 aims to deliver a smooth ride via its AMG ride control and adaptive damping system. The car’s cockpit is equipped with the latest MBUX infotainment system featuring a 12.3-inch driver display and an 11.9-inch central multimedia screen, while getting such features as heated leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof.

Riding on 19-inch rollers but with four optional 20-inch wheel designs also available, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG C 63 offers a palette of seven exterior paint colors and multiple packages to enable more personalization.

The Mercedes-AMG performance sedan will be available at U.S. dealerships starting in spring 2024.

  1. have reached the old age where euros are cheaper than domestics.

    what a milestone!

  2. Cost of ownership for the Mercedes Benz C63 guaranteed to exceed the Cadillac CT5-V.

    1. That, and a PHEV is worthless as a performance vehicle. You have enough juice for 1 0-60 sprint, and then you fade. I’d wager the CT5-V wins in the 1/4 and leaves it in the dust on a track. Bring me an AMG with their V8 turbo and we’ll start talking

    2. Where can i get one ? Like to buy new one from this company?

  3. But in all fairness, 10k more for the V8? Sign me up. Why get the cheaper competitor when its more complex? Get the V8s while we can!

  4. With options, I wonder though. The German’s like to make everything an option, so in the end may be the same or more. And as others have said, the BW has a V8. The carbon “penalty” from CAFE offset and carbon credits is probably 10K.

  5. Hang on, the Blackwing has a supercharged V8 and a Manual transmission, the C63 has a 2.0T hybrid and an automatic.
You might as well compare the Golf GTI to the Blackwing with how little they have in common.
Back when AMG stood for sticking the most overpowered performance V8 engines in the smallest cars they would fit in, they brought the same excitement as the current Blackwing. Now, just because the power numbers are close does not make them legit competitors.
Enthusiast cars are about more than just power or speed numbers, there’s a connection to the experience too. (sound and feeling of the drive)
Blackwing is for car enthusiasts (this for now anyway), the new C63 (along with teslas and other EV’s) are for tech enthusiasts. They are not the same thing.

  6. No mention of the numbers for the Cadillac V AWD. Yes it has less HP and Torque. (3.0L twin turbo V6 360 hp 405 torque 10 speed transmission) Well equipped with Super Cruise stickers at $72,010. That’s $15,090 cheaper than the AMG, just saying.

    1. The C 63 is definitely NOT a CT5-V BW competitor. The E Class AMG is the usual competitor, but it’s not available yet. The C 63 is a competitor the the CT4-V BW, especially in size, prestige, and price. The old C 63 at least had a V-8, though normally aspirated. The new one has great specs on paper, though it is VERY heavy at 4749 lb! I have yet to see a review that really likes this car, and it’s no longer mentioned in comparison to the M3/M4 and CT4-V BW anymore. Posts great numbers, but not great to drive, and the sound from the 4 isn’t inspiring anyone, either. I doubt it will post great lap times due to it’s huge weight, either. I don’t think this pig will draw any sales away from the Caddy pair. The E class AMG will also be a hybrid, but with a V6. I expect it to weigh over 5000 lb, so should also be a big pig, but will start well over $100 k, as usual for MB.

  7. Isn’t the C class more in line with the CT4? I thought the E class was competing against the CT5.

  8. I-4 versus v-8. Interior may be nicer, may, but the merc is behind the Caddy in the power plant. Bet the dual
Clutch and stick in the Caddy is better as well. Proud owner of a C8 Vert and a E450 Merc.

  9. I’m not really a fan of Cadillac’s lineup, but the CT5 V is a huge bright spot. If the Benz was 25k cheaper, I’d still take the Cadillac for it’s V8, manual, RWD and more spacious interior and lower cost of ownership once the warranty’s expire. I can’t help but think that highly boosted 2.0L, DCT gearbox and AWD is going to be a maintenance timebomb down the road. The Cadillac’s largest expense will likely be new rear tires every 10k or so. As appealing as the previous C63 S was, this hyper 4 cylinder holds zero interest for me.

  10. Read any tests of the new AMG C-class and they are not impressive. Lots of very complicated tech and not much fun to drive. I had three Mercedes and would never have another. Very expensive to maintain and way too many unnecessary gadgets.

  11. 80K for a four banger? No thanks. I am taking the V all day, every day

    1. Exactly! A lot of money for a four banger.

  12. I’m a boomer, although a younger boomer. I love the concept of the CT5 Blackwing; blown V8, manual, exceptional performance, US brand, etc. I liked it so much that I went to my local Cadillac dealership hoping my tight ass would be pushed over the edge to purchase one. This is probably the first car ever that I liked less after seeing in person after falling in love with beforehand – after reading C&D and other media accounts of how wonderful this car is, I was in love. At the Blackwing’s price point, it really underwhelms on the visual end. It didn’t help that there were literally 15 or so CT5V’s on the lot that look very similar for half the price. Honestly, I thought my long departed 09 CTS (non V) stood out more than this current Blackwing does, especially for it’s time. All this and I just can’t get passed the fact that you can buy a new Mustang GT with a dealer installed SC w/warranty for 40% less and end up with 98% of what the CT5V Blackwing is.

    1. I just got through taking a look as well. Starting to think of alternatives when it’s time to give up the Z06. Cadillac has a dark metallic grayish blue that looks pretty good on the car. I have to confess that I was disappointed by the interior. It’s not any nicer than our Palisade Calligraphy and in some ways falls short of that vehicle. My impression was more deluxe Malibu than $105k Cadillac. I really wanted to like it. The LT4 is fun in anything they stuff it in.

  13. People complain about Cadillacs model names, but Mercedes-Benz’ naming scheme makes no sense either, why is this a 63?

That used to stand for the 6.2 V8, now there is nothing that is 6 or 3 about this car, but it still has the 63 on it? Thats like sticking 454SS on the Blazer RS with the 3.6 V6.
