GM Authority has learned that the Chassis Cab configuration of the 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 HD is no longer available to order, as the final 2024 model-year orders have been received by Big Red.
The 2024 GMC Sierra HD launched a mid-cycle refresh for the heavy-duty pickup model, with new exterior styling, an overhauled cockpit, and new tech among other changes, but production is moving into its final phase before the 2025 model year’s summer start of regular production (SORP).
As a reminder, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD draws standard motivation from the naturally aspirated 6.6L L8T V8 gasoline engine developing 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Optionally, it can be equipped with the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine featuring an SAE-certified output boost to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet.
Both the diesel engine and the gasoline engine are mated to the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission as standard. In previous model years, the 10-speed was found on the diesel variant while gasoline-powered configurations used the GM six-speed transmission.
Order books for the 2025 GMC Sierra HDÂ are currently scheduled to open on May 16th, 2024. The 2025 truck will start rolling off the assembly line on July 29th, 2024, according to current information. It is expected to carry the current powerplant choices forward, but will also introduce a number of changes and updates.
The 2025 GMC Sierra HD will continue to be underpinned by the more capable version of the GM T1 platform, identical to the 2024 model. Production will continue taking place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan.
