2024 Chevy Traverse Now Shipping To Customers

New units of the next-generation 2024 Chevy Traverse are now officially en route to customers and dealerships. A Chevy spokesperson confirmed with GM Authority that 2024 Chevy Traverse shipments officially began this week. The start of regular production (SORP) for the 2024 Chevy Traverse was originally slated to begin in December of the 2023 calendar year, but was pushed back multiple times.

The side profile of the all-new 2024 Chevy Traverse.

GM Authority previously reported that new 2024 Chevy Traverse units were being stockpiled at a holding lot in Flint, Michigan, roughly an hour away from the GM Lansing Delta Township plant where Traverse production takes place.

With shipments of the 2024 Chevy Traverse now underway, official EPA fuel economy ratings for the third-generation crossover are expected shortly. Although these figures are still under wraps in the U.S., GM Authority previously reported fuel economy ratings for the Canadian-spec Traverse, per Natural Resources Canada. The Canadian fuel economy numbers are expected to align closely with those of the U.S.-spec Traverse. For the Canadian-spec Traverse, all-wheel-drive variants are rated at an NRCan-estimated 19.0 mpg in the city, 23.8 mpg on the highway, and 20.8 mpg combined.

The third-generation 2024 Chevy Traverse brings with it a list of updates and changes over the previous model. Under the hood, the new Traverse features the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, which is rated at 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. Compared to the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine cradled by the second-generation Traverse, the new LK0 engine produces 19 percent more torque.

In terms of design and features, the 2024 Traverse shows off an updated exterior with a more rugged aesthetic inspired by Chevy’s truck lineup, including a dual-tier headlight layout. The cabin features a 17.7-inch diagonal color infotainment screen as standard across the lineup, while a range of high-tech features are offered, among them GM’s semi-autonomous Super Cruise system.

Under the skin, the third-generation Traverse rides on the GM C1 platform.

  1. Why didn’t Chevrolet / GM consider or place a Turbocharged V6 Engine in instead of Turbocharged V4 Engine? Does anyone know?

    1. You can blame CAFE and other governmental interference for that. GM and other automakers have to be meeting ever stringent requirements. So no more V8s or V6s whether with forced induction or not.

      1. Most midsize SUVs are V4 now?

        Reply
        1. Well, a lot of automakers have turbo inline fours now for their midsize crossovers with many reserving turbo sixes for their larger vehicles. The new 2.7L and 2.5L turbo fours pushes out a lot of power and torque that are more than adequate for most needs.

    2. So you don’t get 10 mpg. V6 will all be gone soon

There seems to be several mentions that Turbo would be expensive for Consumers to replace, if need be ($3000 – $4000)

    1. Both have turbos. If your concern is cost, it doesn’t matter if it is a V6 or straight 4 turbo, both have turbos. Either way, neither are going to fail any sooner than any other part. Most are designed to go hundreds of thousands of miles.

      Also, it isn’t a V4, it is a straight 4…

  3. Great new. Waiting to here this for months now.

    1. I’m not sure if I would classify it as Great News. For such a delay, i think every trim should be $3000 – $5000 less, considering it will be end of May to June before we really start seeing them on the road, and more prevalent in July / August.

Over half the year gone. As the consumers, we’re taking even more of a Depreciation hit for a vehicle advertised as 2024

      1. Really complaining about a 2024 model coming out in….wait for it 2024…you need a new car that badly that you waited half a year for it to be delivered instead of shopping elsewhere. Your conflicted alright now you want a discount did you even bother going online and order a new Traverse or is your life so bad that you need to complain about a vehicle you obviously can’t afford. And you talk about depreciation what are you going to buy it and trade it in in five years? I keep my cars at least ten years by that time I could care less what they are worth.

I don’t order without Test driving. Especially with new unfamiliar parts to the public.

A vehicle branded as 2024 should be rolled out on the road end of January at the latest. If not, it should be discounted. Consumer relations 101. Simple as that.

          1. I waited for this because of the size and the price rage. Full size is not in my price range.

Great thing about my dealer is $500 refundable deposit to order. If you don’t like it after test drive, you can simply says no

          2. First, it is great news they are now coming as opposed to bad news that they are not.

Second, so they should discount them the further along they are released? Haha, yeah, that is a wonderful business idea!

Third, over half the year gone? We are in April, that is month 4 of twelve, so we are only a third of the way through. Quite trying to embellish things to get your incorrect view across.

Finally, if you buy a vehicle most of the way through a year, that is on you and depreciation doesn’t work monthly on vehicles, it goes by year. If anything, the longer you wait the lower miles it will have so the more value it will retain…

Man you just need to stop talking and go drive one and make a decision rather than whining on the internet about it.

            1. Tu n’es pas très intelligent, es-tu? Half to over half of the year will be gone by the time they really hit the road

To retain consumer base long-term, yes you shave some of the price for the major delay. Though not a lucrative / profitable business idea, you take some of the hit off the profits.

  4. About time, might as well just call it a 2025! Wish the would have put more R&D into a Turbo 3.6L SS model. They would be literally “stealing” my money then!

I’ll go drive the “little” turbo 4 though to see how it compares to the N/A 3.6L in my Redline Edition when the dealership gets one in.

  5. I have owned many GM SUVs and currently drive a Suburban. They are some of the most dependable vehicles in the world. Unfortunately, GM SUVs have been unreliable for more than a decade. GM must stop using Chinese parts before their reputation is totally trashed. High output 4 and 6 cylinder engines are impressive but they don’t last like a low compression V8.

    1. Unreliable for more than a decade? Might be how you used them.

    2. I am on my fifth Suburban since mid nineties, other than routine maintenance and tires the only things I’ve had to replace were an air conditioner compressor on my 2001 and an alternator on my 2012. Maybe I’ve been really lucky, these have all been extremely reliable vehicles.

  6. Not speaking bad but I would be really careful about these first yr models as they are equipped with new tech, a new engine, somewhat new suspension… some could be bad while others be perfect .. just saying

    1. The engine is not even close to new, it has been out for some time. The 2.7L version was first introduced in the 2019 Silverado/Sierra. This 2.5L is just a slightly smaller version of the 2.7.

  11. “the new LK0 engine produces 19 percent more torque”

Thanks but I’d rather have naturally-aspirated displacement with 100% more durability.

Why didn’t Ford ever put the EcoBoost in the Super Duty, or GM the wondrous 2.7 in the HDs? Surely great motors with that kind of output, right? Right?

  12. Why would I trade our Hona Pilot V-6 for this? It gets 27 highway and 21 around town. Guess we will be looking for another Pilot. Our current one has been perfect for 90K + miles.

          1. It’s a fleet order with the 2LS package. I think we have about 10 in-transit right now. We’ve been impressed with the list of standard options on the new model versus 22-23. Except, it’s a little disappointing that a power driver’s seat is not standard anymore.

  16. There’s a huge rail delay now coming from Michigan. It’s expected to be cleared up by next week. I’m told around 5/20 there will be a lot of vehicles arriving, a lot of fleet (non-daily rental units) and orders from December coming in. This delay is mostly out of GM/Chevy’s control, but wow…. More delays. SMH.
