2024 Chevy Traverse Heated Wiper Park Feature Under Constraint

GM pulled the sheets on the new third-gen 2024 Chevy Traverse crossover SUV last year, revealing major changes and updates ranging from fresh exterior and interior styling to a shakeup of the vehicle’s available trim levels. The Premier and High Country trims were retired – though the Premier is likely to return for 2025 – and the off-road-focused Z71 trim was added.

Now, GM Authority has learned that the heated wiper park feature (RPO code CMO) is under constraint even as production of the 2024 Chevy Traverse is in an early stockpiling phase after several delays and postponements of the model’s start of regular production (SORP).

Specifically, some units of the 2024 Chevy Traverse have been built without the heated wiper park, and others are continuing to be built without it currently. Affected crossovers will carry the special RPO code R6G on their window stickers for easy identification. The heated wiper park is normally equipped only on the range-topping RS trim level as a standard feature.

At this point, it is unclear when the constraint on the feature will lift. However, buyers of affected vehicles will be eligible for a retrofit in the future.

As GM Authority detailed in a previous Feature Spotlight, the heated wiper park is a new feature introduced with the crossover’s third generation. It consists of a defroster in the windshield base to heat the wipers when they are in the “parked” position, melting ice and preventing the wipers from getting frozen in place during winter. The RS trim also has Rainsense wipers.

When it comes to the greasy bits, all trim levels of the 2024 Chevy Traverse cradle the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine under the hood. The powerplant cranks out 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque, according to GM ratings. The GM eight-speed automatic transmission is paired with this engine. All trim except the Z71 have standard FWD and optional AWD, while the Z71 gets the AWD equipped as standard.

Beneath the skin, the all-new Traverse is underpinned by an updated variant of the long-wheelbase version of the GM C1 platform. This platform boasts new tech features such as the Global B digital architecture. Production is underway at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

  3. c’mon, give it up already with the heated wipers. Even my old 07 Escalade had them. At least until it was recalled and the feature was disconnected.
