The revamped 2024 Chevy Trailblazer boasts a facelift and an interior makeover, bringing a fresh new look and feel to the subcompact crossover. Additionally, the 2024 Trailblazer offers a range of selectable drive modes tailored for top-notch performance in various driving situations. Below, GM Authority breaks down all four of these modes.
Specifically, the 2024 Trailblazer features Normal Mode, AWD Mode, Snow/Ice Mode and Sport Mode. Each mode allows the driver to adjust the overall driving experience to better suit personal preferences. This is accomplished by adjusting multiple vehicle subsystems. Note that drive mode availability depends on Trailblazer trim level.
If the Trailblazer is left in Normal (front-wheel-drive) or AWD, that mode will stay engaged through future ignition cycles. If the vehicle is left in any other mode, it will return to Normal Mode when it is restarted. Each mode is denoted by a unique indicator on the instrument cluster, and can be engaged by pressing the associated buttons, which are located on the center console front of the shift lever.
Now, let’s take a look at the four drive modes available in the 2024 Trailblazer.
Normal Mode
Normal Mode is the default drive mode for the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer. It prioritizes fuel economy and comfort over performance, and keeps the vehicle in FWD until another mode is selected. There is no persistent indicator for Normal Mode, and 2WD will be displayed on the instrument cluster while it is active.
AWD Mode (AWD Vehicles Only)
Selecting AWD Mode provides torque to all four of the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer wheels. This mode should be used with extra traction is necessary on slippery road surfaces, such as gravel, sand, wet pavement, snow and ice. The AWD indicator will be illuminated on the instrument cluster, and the light on the button itself will flash briefly as the system engages. Once AWD is engaged, this light will remain on until AWD Mode is turned off. Note that if a spare tire is mounted to the vehicle, the AWD system will automatically detect it and reduce AWD functionality until four full-size tires are installed once again.
Sport Mode
Sport Mode is recommended when road conditions or personal preference demand a more spirited, controlled response from the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer. When activated, Sport Mode modifies steering efforts along with transmission shifting for a sportier feel. It can be activated by pressing the checkered flag button on the center console, and is identifiable by the same checkered flag icon on the instrument cluster.
Snow/Ice Mode (FWD Vehicles Only)
Snow/Ice Mode improves acceleration on snow- and ice-covered roads. This mode modifies acceleration to optimize traction on slippery surfaces, although it’s important to note that it can compromise acceleration on dry asphalt. Additionally, this drive mode is not recommended for use when the vehicle is stuck in snow, sand, mud, ice, snow or gravel. It is activated with the snowflake button on the center console, and a similar icon lights up on the instrument cluster when it is engaged.
Production of the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer kicked off in July 2023, with U.S.-bound models rolling off the assembly line at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea. Pricing starts at $24,395.

At what speed can you switch from FWD to AWD on a 2024 Trail Blazer LS AWD?
I have read the manual, twice, there is no mention at what speed you can switch from FWD to AWD.
My sales person said 20mph, but that seems too slow. And there is nothing in writing to back that up.
I checked this web site and I could not find anything about recommended speed to switch from FWD to AWD.
I even called a Chevrolet dealership service department and they do not know the answer. They recommended being stopped before switching drive modes.
I’m very concerned that I can not get my question answered on a major component of my vehicle.
