2024 Chevy Silverado HD Auburn Metallic Paint No Longer Available To Order

Introduced as a new exterior paint color for the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD, the Auburn Metallic tint was one of six new shades added to the pickup model’s available color palette. Now, even before the new model year arrives, GM Authority has learned it is no longer available to order.

Specifically, the Auburn Metallic (color code G48) exterior paint color is no longer available to order on all configurations (Regular Cab, Double Cab, Crew Cab) of the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD. The color will be built out following the week of June 3rd, 2024.

Auburn Metallic was a no-charge option on the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD‘s LT and LTZ trim levels. At this point, it’s unclear if it will return for the 2025 model year. GM has unveiled the Trail Boss variant of the 2025 Silverado HD, but some details, including pricing and available paint colors, will be revealed closer to its anticipated summer launch.

As a reminder, the Silverado HD received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year, with a new exterior design, a new cockpit, and significant changes to the powerplant, technology, and trim level lineups. Powerful off-road machines were introduced with the Silverado HD ZR2 and the even more cross-country capable HD ZR2 Bison, while numerous packages and special editions are also on offer.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is motivated by a pair of engine choices post-refresh. These powerplants include the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque and offered as standard fare for the model year. The truck can be optioned with the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine instead, a choice cranking out 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque thanks to a new 2024 output boost.

Cog swaps for both the gasoline and diesel engines are handled by the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission. This transmission is also new for the model year, providing an upgraded successor to the previous GM six-speed automatic that was paired with the gasoline engine.

The Chevy Silverado HD uses a more capable variant of the GM T1 platform for structure under the body panels. Production of the heavy-duty pickup model takes place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and the GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

  1. Won’t be long before the General is out of paint altogether. You new Silverado or Sierra will be delivered in bare metal with the promise of a dealer paint job as soon as paint in available.
