Challenging the Ford F-150 Raptor in its role as desert hopper, the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 Fox Factory Edition is a powerful limited-edition “turnkey super truck” now being offered by Fox Factory and highlighted in a new video.
The two-minute, fifty-second video shows the overhauled and upgraded Chevy Silverado blasting through the desert at high speed, raising plumes of dust as it overtakes a variety of other desert racing pickups.
While the Chevy Silverado ZR2 and Silverado ZR2 Bison trim levels are fun and effective off-road trucks, they aren’t specialized for desert terrain like the Fox Factory Edition is. Each truck is built using a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST trim vehicle with 4WD as the starting point, with motivation supplied by the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine.
While the L87 normally develops 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, the collaboration between Fox Factory and the Brenthel brothers of Baja Kits sees the V8 enhanced with some significant modifications. The engine is boosted by a twin-screw Whipple Gen V 3.0L supercharger and a high-capacity billet aluminum air-to-water intercooler, raising output to a scorching estimated 700 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque.
To support the supercharged V8 and give the Chevy Silverado Fox Factory Edition a satisfyingly aggressive exhaust note, the truck is also fitted with a stainless steel Borla cat-back exhaust as standard. Power is sent through a 3.73 gearset and upgraded axles to 17-inch Fox Factory Edition wheels wrapped in 37-inch puncture-resistant BFGoodrich Baja Champion All Terrain tires. The wheels have special Bead Grip tech providing performance similar to a beadlock while remaining DOT-compliant and street legal.
With a track width that’s 7.5 inches wider than standard, the 2024 Chevy Silverado Fox Factory Edition also features a number of suspension add-ons that help it conquer rocks, whoops, and other desert racing obstacles. These include electronically controlled semi-active FOX 3.2 Live Valve coil-over shocks and other enhancements, giving it vertical travel of 14.5 inches in front and 15.5 inches at the rear.
Improved LED lighting deploys up to 60,000 lumens for high-speed performance under the stars, and the truck has “menacing” styling upgrades with carbon fiber hood, fenders, and bedsides showcasing exclusive edition-specific sculpting. The Fox Factory pickup is priced at $209,999 and can be reserved for $20,000.

$210k? LOL. They missed the boat. You can buy a very low mile, slightly used TRX in the $70ks now.
This probably seems to be better than the TRX other than the cost. The TRX is being discontinued and parts could be hard to find in the future while for this enginewise it may be fine.
TRX is coming back for 2026 with new v8s and more power
Yeah but that’s a Ram and Ram definition: junk, troublesome, unreliable, just another name for a Dodge.
Maybe some of their vehicles, but the Hellcat powered vehicles and the TRX specifically have some pretty robust upgrades, not just the engines.
Unfortunately there are cases where hellcat powered RAMS did blow up- and one of them happened in Qatar. Same issue with the Raptor Rs that had oil leaks that required complete engine teardowns. Seems that there may have been a reason why Chevrolet/GMC did not go down the same path.
There are ALWAYS some cases of this for every engine. As much as I love the LS/LT motors, even some of them have issues. The hellcat is a pretty proven engine.
I do agree with the issues of LT/LS being related to AFM and DFM, but that can be minimized with proper oil changes and short intervals, and most trucks generally do not suffer from the problem.
The issue with the TRX was alarming in Qatar because when I saw it it seemed that it occurred after 2 days of ownership. I have heard of one case of an LC300 engine failing at 43k kms (most failures are due to main bearing problems).
Laziness?
I would not really say so. The HEMI is pretty good in terms of reliability- the only issue is with the MDS systems that fail with not enough oil.
201k or just get Raptor r for less .. hmm
Oh lottery,oh lottery, where are thou???? Sigh..
Awesome truck, but not worth the money. You can buy a 2500 Sierra AT4X AEV, a trailer, and a RZR pro r 4, and it would still be cheaper. $140-150k would be more appropriate but they gotta make money.
There are my estimates.
Truck ~ $75k (on the high side)
Fox 3.2 live valve shocks ~ $6k
6 Wheels and Tires ~ $8k
Long arm suspension and linked rear with bed cage ~ $15k
Hood, Front and Rear Fenders ~ $4k
Lighting ~ $3k
Seat skin ~ $2k
Spot on my friend. add 25K to build a blueprinted crate engine package to make it a true driver to push hard with no issues. Also need bigger 6 piston brakes.
The HD would be a lot more capable in terms of hauling as well.
Engine upgrade?
At that price, it will be a very limited edition! Houses in my neighborhood sell for less. Even people I know who could probably afford this beast think trucks priced at $70,000 are already overpriced. And they want to know how comfortable the truck is while towing a classic car to the car show.
It is a 3rd-party vehicle. Who cares?
As a life-long GM fan, Dodge has the TRX and Ford has the Raptor R, straight from the factory. GM has no answer. 🙁
They do not as they know enough that it is not a sensible option for most people. The Raptor R had issues with oil leaks from the factory while the TRX is now going away because of the fines the EPA will slap on Stellantis.
With the exception of special paint, emblems, decals , larger wheels and tires, GM clearly ignored the niche high performance truck market segment.
‘24 Dodge RAM TRX Price $105-150k (‘23 sales approx. 10.4 units)
‘24 Ford Raptor R Price starting price $112k (‘23 sales approx. 2.3k units)
Typical GM. Damn shame. The drivetrain was right there with an LT4 engine set up for performance truck application (668-700hp). Would have been a great high performance truck competitor to the Dodge TRX and Ford Raptor R.
$210k from an aftermarket source? Yeah right. Good luck with that.
You can slap Toyota for not adding a high performance GR sport 3.5 V6/twin turbo V8 to their Tundra. Why THEY did not do it? Same reason why no high performance factory Silverado exists.
I was a tire dealer for 42 years. BF Goodrich All terrain tires (TAKO) are the best of anything out there.
No mention of any additional gusseting or frame mods to handle the pounding of high-speed desert running. Similarly, no internal upgrades to the 6.2L to handle the additional pressures of boost from supercharging. The lack of both spells a short window of durability if this truck is used as intended. Everything else is bolt-on, cool stuff but worth 130k over a stock ZR2? TRX and Raptor and Raptor R still have a substantial edge and for less money.
