General Motors recently unveiled the updated 2025 Chevy S10 in Brazil, showing off, among other things, a brand-new look for the pickup. Although the new styling shares quite a few similarities with that of the third-generation Chevy Colorado, there are also several points of departure, and, as GM Authority covered previously, the Chevy Colorado and Chevy S10 remain distinct animals. Now, we want to know – which truck design do you prefer?
Critically, both models flaunt Chevy’s latest ICE-based design language. The front fascia of each incorporates sleek lighting, a large grille sectioned off by a prominent upper dividing bar, and an elevated Bow Tie badge. Despite these similarities, the trucks present notable differences, as well. The 2024 Colorado features a more robust, angular approach, while the 2025 S10 introduces a sleeker grille bar and unique headlight graphics that give it a sharper look.
Viewed from the side, the styling differences become even more pronounced. The 2025 S10 sports a sail panel behind the C-pillar, which is absent on the Chevy Colorado. The Colorado’s fenders are also more square, exuding a more rugged character compared to the S10’s more rounded fenders. The window lines differentiate the two even further, with the Colorado adopting a more traditional pickup profile and the S10 offering a sleeker silhouette.
Moving to the rear, both models showcase vertical taillights with similar taillight designs, presenting a familial resemblance. The bumper designs are also similar, hinting at shared design philosophies and functional considerations.
All told, these two pickups look similar in some ways but quite different in others. Which leads us to ask – which truck design catches your eye? Colorado has a stand-alone design whereas the s10 has a familiar face similar to that of a equinox, trailblazer,Malibu.
The S-10 looks very good in my opinion, I like it a lot. Still the Colorado looks better and is more substantial for nearly the same price believe it or not.
I like them both for different reasons. The Colorado is certainly more rugged looking while the S-10 is more civilized or car-like. I could see GM selling the S-10 here as a cheaper version of the mid-size truck, but I’m not sure how much cheaper they could make it, maybe just a different trim level on the Colorado?
Here is pre-order pricing for the three first 2025 Chevy S10 variants in Brazil:
2025 S10 Z71: 281,900 reales (about $55,880 USD at current exchange rates)
2025 S10 LTZ: 292,800 reales ($58,030 USD)
2025 S10 High Country: 302,900 reales ($59,990 USD)
Those prices for the new S-10 are absolutely horrific. ^^^ The NA Colorado is a better value. Maybe GM can leverage the S-10 front end design for a small pickup based on a modified Trailblazer platform?
I like the look of the current Colorado but miss the extended cab model as I don’t need a 4 door and would like a lower priced option as these are getting way to expensive. Also missed are nice looking wheels choices that the previous Colorado had, cruise control should be std equipment on the LT on above models, there needs to be a second interior color choice, a headlight switch needs to be put back and Chevy should offer an exterior chrome package like they did before and Ford currently has with the 2024 Ranger or at least offer a High Country or Premier trim that doesn’t have the chunky black plastic look.
$1,500 – $2,000 isn’t really much of a price difference….
The S10 has Duramax . The Colorado just little to big for my taste.
yep, many of us would prefer a 2 door pickup in something other than a work truck trim. But CAFE rules killed the 2 door pickup. As usual, the Guv ment screws us.
I like the look of the current colorado better, but the s-10 in other markets can do so much more work. Higher payloads, stronger components etc. kind of like a toyota hilux compared to the tacoma.
I suspect towing capacity for both are almost the same (S10 can handle 7716 pounds while the Colorado does with 16 pounds less). The Colorado in the Asian Markets was designed to compete against the Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi L200, Toyota Hilux and LDV Maxus (and other chinese pick ups), and had an Izuzu version at some point there as well (badged).
That said, yes the S10 is much more of a work focused competitor to the Hilux than the Colorado.
The Colorado all the way! It makes the S10 look wimpy!
i dont care for either !!!! ..please GM, enough already !!!! give us a compact or even small 2 door truck with an extended cab and a full bed !!!! these 4 door monsters with a short bed are not what a lot of us need….
10-4 ! GM sales would go up if they build a 2 door pickup in higher trim levels than a work truck. Not everyone wants or needs 4 big doors. Todays trucks have turned into station wagons with useless beds.
I have a 2016 Colorado with the Duramax. I have read the export model has a diesel. I like the older body style and having the little diesel much better. I have 188,000 mi on mine. Very Satisfied.
Pretty much every pickup made by every manufacturer today is a bloated overstuffed monstrosity wallowing in excess.
Here’s revolutionary idea. How about making a simple basic truck that isn’t an exercise in one-upmanship?
Why not offer a traditional regular 2-door cab, 6- or 8-foot bed, replace the elaborate onboard infotainment system with a simple radio/media player, and ditch the plush leather comforts-of-home interiors in favor of durable, rugged fabric. Forget the ostentatious luxury car accessories and focus on functionality. Make a truck that’s actually a truck, not an oversized luxury car with a barely functional pickup bed attached.
That is whole lotta crazy talk right there!🤣
I agree with you 100% I would really enjoy seeing something that breaks away from everything you’ve highlighted and focuses more on the sensible buyer that just needs a simple workhorse.
I am disappointed the S10 got a diesel motor why not the Colorado ??
This is not an appropriate comparison because you are comparing a ZR2 Colorado which looks very different than the standard Colorado to the S10 which look like a standard level.
The S10 has Duramax . The Colorado just little to big for my taste.
S10 is looks cheap and closer to a Ranger.
What’s the towing capacity of the S-10? Or is it a useless glorified SSR.
Does it really matter ??? WE do not get a choice
Mary and her Idiot friends decide what they will sell us. They do not give a Damn about what WE The People want …
I have driven GM products for over 40 years and bought my latest Buick a couple of years ago. BUT – when the times come to get another car or truck in a couple of years. I will be looking around at the competition to see what I like better!!!!!
I bought a 2023 Colorado because of looks but the list is getting longer on problems, been in for recall and mentioned auto start wasn’t working and they kept it over night and put it on charger. Worked for about a week and quit working again, not taking it back for that but will call and make sure they document it in my file.
You have a first year model. 2023s have had the battery issues.
I like the Colorado body design better. But the S10 engine better (Diesel)
Problem with the Colorado is the ugly door panels and the dash design in front of the passenger side. That is beyond ugly. Pls fire the moron that designed that.
Why make the comparison when the S-10 is not available in the US which sucks.
