GM has issued a Noncompliance Recall for certain 2024 Chevy Colorado pickups that were produced with park lamp function that is not in compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108. The recall describes a remedy available from authorized dealers.
The problem: When the driver of an affected 2024 Chevy Colorado switches off the master light control at night or in other dark conditions, the taillights, license plate light, and side marker lamps will switch off. However, the truck’s parking lamps will remain on.
The hazards: Federal motor vehicle safety standards require that if the parking lamps are on, the taillights, license plate light, and side marker lamps must also be illuminated. Since this is not the case in affected Chevy Colorado units, the vehicles are out of compliance with federal law.
The fix: The recall condition can be remedied at a dealership by service personnel reprogramming the Body Control Module (BCM). No parts are required to complete the fix of this issue.
Affected components:Â Body Control Module (BCM).
Affected vehicles:Â
- 2024 Chevy Colorado
- 2024 Cadillac XT4
- 2024 GMC Canyon
Number of affected vehicles: It is unclear at this point how many vehicles in total are affected by this recall.

The 2024 Chevy Colorado gets several significant changes and updates compared to the refreshed 2023 model, including the debut of the off-road-focused Colorado ZR2 Bison, new technology, and changes to the available engine lineup.
Specifically, General Motors has dropped the mid-range Turbo Plus 2.7 I4 L3B gasoline engine. Two powerplant choices remain the Turbo 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine, which develops 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and the Turbo High-Output 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which cranks out 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Colorado is underpinned by the updated 31XX-2 platform, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

I do not know who writes this software but it’s a basic test scenario. Switch off the lights under various light conditions?
Good thing you don’t need parts you grow old waiting. I am still waiting for roof stifling kit so the roof doesn’t cave in at the car wash .
this article is confusing. Are the tail lights not considered parking lamps? I take this article as the issue is the front lights that are above the headlight are the problem
I predict this generation Colorado will be much like previous ones, rolling money pits.
