Leave a car in one spot for long enough, and eventually, it’ll become one with the local foliage. The process takes time, but give it a few decades, and it’s obvious when Mother Nature is moving in to claim the ride as her own. Luckily, this abandoned 1992 Chevy Camaro was saved from the slow-decay of the elements thanks to its first wash in 20 years, as seen in the following car detailing and restoration video.
Coming to us from the WD Detailing YouTube channel, this particular Chevy Camaro was uncovered in Ohio, where the former owner had parked it in a field near a forest. By the time the folks at WD Detailing got to it, the Camaro was in pretty rough shape, with the white paint turned green from moss and the wheels literally buried into the ground. The interior looks no better, giving off the familiar smell of a decaying vehicle.
Apparently, the car’s long-term abandonment was due to legal issues faced by the previous owner, resulting in the car sitting untouched and gradually integrating into the Earth itself. A challenge, to be sure, but one the detailing team felt up to tackling. The team also poses the question of whether the Camaro should be considered a parts car, or restored to road-worthy condition.
First things first, the exterior was vacuumed to remove large debris, followed by pressure washing to eliminate layers of moss and organic material. The team also got under the hood, discovering the 3.1L V6 LHO engine covered under a thick layer of various organic material. Unfortunately, the engine was seized, which may support the argument for an engine swap sometime in the future.
Special attention was also given to the wheels, where vines had wrapped around the tires, with the team applying a variety of cleaning agents and cleaning techniques to restore the rollers as much as possible.
Diving into the smelly interior, the seats were removed and the vacuum put in some work, while additional products were applied to revive the upholstery and carpet.
All in all, it’s highly satisfying to watch this Chevy Camaro get restored, so check out the full video below:

They saved a 3.1 Camaro?
I “saved” a pristine 1991 3.1 camaro from my cousin who was just going to beat it into the ground, back in 2007. Hasn’t run since 2020 but I plan on saving it once again. These are getting more rare.
The big question was why? If it was a Z28 I could probably see it, but a 6 Banger with a seized engine?
