The green flag for the first race of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship will soon drop in Qatar, kicking off what’s sure to be another thrilling season for Cadillac Racing and the No. 2 V-Series.R.
The Qatar 1812 Km is scheduled for 11 a.m. local time (3 a.m. EST) on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024. The No. 2 V-Series.R will start seventh. In Friday’s qualifying session, Lynn had control of the race car, laying down a time of 1:40.103, 0.756 seconds off the pole position. Despite a lackluster qualifying run, the No. 2 V-Series.R was strong in practice, indicating that it will be a force to be reckoned with on race day.
“We’re looking strong, our Cadillac is feeling good at this circuit, and the fast-flowing nature really suits us,” Lynn said in an interview prior to his qualifying run.
The No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R remains the luxury marque’s sole WEC entry, once again fielded by Chip Ganassi Racing. Sebastien Bourdais, Earl Bamber and Lynn will split driving duties in the Qatar 1812 Km, all familiar faces in the Cadillac Racing stable.
“Putting Sebastien Bourdais in the No. 2 for the Qatar events is going to give him a chance to refamiliarize himself with the WEC rules and regulations,” said CGR Director of Operations, Mike O’Gara, in a press release. “It is also going to allow us to strengthen the bond between the U.S.-based IMSA team and the Germany-based WEC team. We know it is going to strengthen both programs and better prepare us for our 2024 attack on the 24 Hours of Le Mans.”
To celebrate Cadillac’s first stint at Qatar, the luxury marque will stream the in-car camera from the No. 2 Cadillac Racing V-Series.R on its YouTube channel. Tune into the video below when the race kicks off on Saturday at 3 a.m. EST.
