There Will Be A 2025 Chevy Blazer In North America

The Chevy Blazer crossover was refreshed for the 2023 model year, with GM previously reviving the iconic sport utility nameplate for the 2019 model year. Until recently, it was uncertain if GM would even produce the Chevy Blazer for the 2025 model year, as covered previously. Now, however, GM Authority has confirmed that GM will indeed offer a 2025 Chevy Blazer for the North American market.

It was previously uncertain if GM would offer a 2025 Chevy Blazer.

For those readers who may have missed it, the uncertainty surrounding the 2025 Chevy Blazer came down to two key points, the first of which was where the ICE-based Blazer is produced. Currently, the ICE-based Blazer is assembled at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, which, per previous GM Authority coverage, is slated to transition to full-time EV production some time this year, thus leaving the question of where the future ICE-based Blazer may be assembled unanswered.

The second point was centered on order cycles. The final order cycle for the 2024 Chevy Blazer was January 25th, 2024, leaving the path to order a 2025 Chevy Blazer somewhat unclear.

Now, however, GM Authority has learned that there will indeed be a 2025 Chevy Blazer available in North America. The 2025 Blazer will continue to be built at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico alongside the Chevy Blazer EV, even rolling down the same assembly line as the all-electric crossover with which it shares a nameplate. Although the Ramos Arizpe plant continues to move towards EV-only production, the facility will continue to assemble gasoline-powered models as well, at least for a little while longer.

At present, no significant changes are expected for the ICE-powered 2025 Chevy Blazer. As a reminder, the ICE-powered Blazer offers two engine options, including the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine and naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine. Under the skin, the GM C1 platform provides the bones.

  1. Why the hell wouldn’t there be? With all the distaste for EVs, that the media can’t stop expounding on their greatness, that would be beyond dumb.

  2. My son bought one before they lose the V6.

  3. How about giving it a refresh with the Blazer-EV styled dashboard and Supercruise? No reason to kill this so soon. Typical shortsighted GM-ness.

  4. Just bought a 24 Blazer rs to replace a 19 Impala which is a great vehicle,l to wanted to get the V6 before they are gone, do not want a 4 cylinder turbo.

  5. I feel like the sales will be considerably down for the year model 2025 Blazer. It is an aging design sandwiched in between 2 complete redesigns that actually look really good. As a 2023 Blazer owner if I was purchasing next year I would choose the Equinox. The current Equinox and Traverse looks like boring, uninspired grandmother grocery getters so the Blazer stood out.

Although it is not the type of vehicle that I would want personally, Chevrolet should use this opportunity to do what the people want and use the Blazer nameplate of a 4wd off road SUV. They could either make a new platform and keep it the same size or make it a little bigger a build it off the Colorado platform. People would love a midsized SUV built on a true truck platform again but it’s probably going to be hard to do and keep the price reasonable.

  6. I’m on my 3rd Blazer RS since 2019. Loved them all!

  7. I would only purchase a Blazer again if it was either a ICE or a ICE/EV hybrid . No just EV for me. Have a 2020 RS V6 and just love it. People I have spoken to in our northern climate with EV’s say they are good in town but bad on the highway. I think GM is making a big mistake building EV’s. A hybrid gives you both in town and highway performance.

  8. Instead of a wanna be Infiniti the 2025 Blazer should be like the new Traverse Z71 or at least an option… wishful thinking I guess.

  9. No sh*t. Chevrolet has made no secret they are on a dual path, ICE and EV in the Manor segments, ready for wherever the market, and government policies take them. And the current conditions have vindicated that strategy. The only thing missing was HEVs and PHEV s, both of which they have been working on behind the scenes.

  10. I don’t understand why they need to axe these mid-sized 5-passenger SUVs (looking at you too Ford with the Edge). A family like mine which consists of 3 adults and one child find these mid-sized SUVs perfect. I have ZERO need for a 3-row like a Traverse and honestly would rather not have such a large crossover as my garage is tight and so are some of the streets here in northern NJ, but still want something that gives us more breathing room than an Equinox. We have an XT5 (the Blazers luxury platform sibling) and as a weekend car where all four of us are going out together as a family is a much more comfortable vehicle than our cramped feeling Rav4 (which is now my wifes daily). But the car is not overly large where I can’t park it in my garage and am comfortable driving it and parking it on the streets of North Bergen, Jersey City, Hoboken, and Weehawken. They axed sedans the least they can do is maintain a variety of SUVs.

Remember one thing GM and Ford. When you alienate a customer base by canceling a perfect model for them, chances are they will look elsewhere and if that elsewhere has a superior alternative and an overall better ownership experience, they will NEVER come back.

  11. * Due to the disappointing low volume of orders for the Blazer EV at the Ramos Arizpe plant the ICE Blazer will fill the void for at least the 2025 model year. The ICE Blazer may prove more popular than the EV version giving GM a strong case to continue with it beyond the 2025 model year.

  14. Please GM….Wake The Hell Up And give us (Blazer ICE) the same body style and interior as the 2024 Blazer EV or give us a Hybrid with battery pack and ICE.
