General Motors is continuing to renew its portfolio of Chevrolet vehicles manufactured in Brazil and one of the most important novelties is the forthcoming, refreshed Chevy Onix, which will make its world debut this year in the country.
The automaker will introduce the refreshed version of the second-generation Chevy Onix this year in Brazil, sources familiar with the product plans of the company’s Brazilian subsidiary have confirmed to GM Authority. The refreshed Onix will soon make its global debut in the South American country, the birthplace and main manufacturing center of the subcompact vehicle internationally.
According to our sources, the upcoming refreshed Chevy Onix will be one of six new vehicles Chevrolet will launch this year in Brazil, where the successful nameplate has led the automotive market for the past few years – representing close to 70 percent of GM Brazil’s overall sales volume. As usual, the renewal will cover the hatchback body style and the sedan variant – locally called Onix Plus.
Notably, the second-generation Chevy Onix racked up a long five-year initial lifecycle period without receiving any notable tweaks, and will be facelifted for the first time this year since the model’s global debut in China in early 2019. As such, the updated version will be a very important piece to help GM reinforce its level of competitiveness and maintain the Onix’s commercial leadership in the Brazilian market.
In addition to introducing a new front fascia adapted to the brand’s latest design language and other body adjustments, the refreshed Chevy Onix will receive a noticeably updated interior with the latest technological features, along with an improved powertrain. In particular, the Onix’s delayed mid-cycle update will bring a new version of the 1.0L turbocharged I3 engine with more power and lower emissions, conforming to the latest local regulations.
The refreshed Chevy Onix is expected to make its global debut in Brazil in the coming months as the main novelty for the 2025 model year of Chevrolet’s successful subcompact, manufactured exclusively for South America at the GM Gravataí plant in that country. The Onix sedan is also manufactured at the GM Dong Yue plant in China – which supplies units to Mexico, where the refreshed version would also be launched for the 2025 model year.

Comments
Chevrolet bring the refreshed Onix hatch and Onix Plus as the Chevrolet Sonic.
Chevrolet: Bring the refreshed Onix to the USA, please. Ms. Barra: Consider it. It may well bring GM good sales and take on the Corolla, Civic models which are anywhere and everywhere to be seen. Boring for sure! 🙏🏹♐
It most likely wouldn’t take on Corolla and Civic because those are Compact cars , it’ll most likely be a competitor to the Kia k3 , Mitsubishi Mirage , Nissan Versa.
But they really should bring the Refreshed Chevrolet monza to the U.S as the Cruze and put the trailblazer 1.2L in it.
It’s only a refresh when competitors are coming out with redesigned models.
