Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the refreshed 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, showing off a few exterior tweaks with improved aero, new tech features, and a new powertrain lineup. Critically, the 2025-model-year G550 ditches the twin-turbo 4.0L V8 offered previously in favor of a mild hybrid six-cylinder, while the first all-electric G-Class is expected to drop in at a later date. When it reaches U.S. dealers in the second half of the 2024 calendar year, the refreshed 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class will rival the Cadillac Escalade.
Let’s start with the powertrain updates. The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is equipped with a turbocharged 3.0L I6 juiced by a 48-volt mild hybrid system, the combination of which is good for 443 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, with the hybrid system temporarily adding 20 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque at lower engine speeds. For the sake of comparison, the current G550 is equipped with a twin-turbo 4.0L V8 making 416 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.
The 2025 G63 once again cradles a twin-turbo 4.0L V8, but it too gains 48-volt hybrid tech. Output remains identical to that of the current 2024-model-year at 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque.
As for the design, the refreshed 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class features new A-pillars, a new grille, new bumpers, and a subtle rear spoiler, all of which aid in smoothing out aerodynamics. The cabin space was updated with a wealth of new tech features, such as Merc’s MBUX infotainment system, which replaces the COMAND system equipped by the current model.
Highlight tech items include an updated 360-degree camera system, off-road gauges, a “transparent hood” feature, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 12.3-inch driver and multimedia display.
Pricing information for the refreshed 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class has yet to be revealed, but is expected to be slightly higher than that of the current 2024 model year. For reference, the current G550 starts at $143,000, while the G63 starts at $183,000.

A Wrangler for rich stupid people….the Germans must be laughing their butts off at people paying $200K for a 1979 military vehicle with oversized ghetto tires.
Wouldn’t be caught dead in one of those ridiculous things even if they gave it to me
And it still does the best imitation of a 1970s washing machine.
When’s the last time an Escalade was taken off road?
about the same time one of those, excluding the old ones from the 90s
how is that an escalade rival… its like half the size and has a horrible seating position
It’s only competition is a four slice toaster 😆
In what way is the MB to have the word “aerodynamic” used in their description?
The design is almost a copy of the 1949 Willys Jeep Station Wagon.
Its not aerodynamic, its zerodynamic.
Cybertruck is aerodynamic.
Arrogant germans are blocking the Tesla expansion. Someday they will learn the lesson.
Its a nonsense to compare a 8 seater Cadillac Escalade to a 5 seater G-Class.
And electric G-Class will cost 300K. I will buy a Cybertruck instead and keep the remaining money with me.
Crazy rich lease these vehicles at the company cost and dont pay a penny for the vehicle cost/fuel/oil change …
No fool will pay out of their pocket for this.
