General Motors’ main joint venture in China announced the launch of the refreshed 2024 Buick Envision S in the local market, as part of the comprehensive renewal of Buick’s extensive product portfolio in the country. As the updated version of the second-generation model, the 2024 Envision S enhances the crossover’s level of competitiveness of the crossover with an improved offering that includes notable changes in design, technology and features.

In particular, the range of the refreshed 2024 Buick Envision S for China is made up of three trim levels with distinctive finishes and features called Pioneer, Black Fashion and Black Premium. The base Pioneer boasts more conventional styling with bright trim and a solid-color interior, while the Black Fashion and Black Premium variants include a blacked-out overall finish with a gloss black grille, wheels and body moldings along with a more refined interior.

In addition to the styling revisions, the refreshed 2024 Buick Envision S features two engine options, both mated to GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission and including 48V mild-hybrid technology as standard. The Pioneer and Black Fashion (wearing the 25T badge) variants are equipped with the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LAH engine with 155 kW or 208 horsepower and 270 Nm or 199 pound-feet of torque, while the Black Premium (with the 28T badge) equips the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine that develops 174 kW or 233 horsepower along with 350 Nm or 258 pound-feet of torque.

Inside, the new 2024 Buick Envision S stands out for its massive, class-leading 30-inch 6K Eyemax curved display integrating Buick’s new intelligent virtual cockpit system, as well as a better selection of materials and finishes. The display module is complemented by new ambient lighting and a diamond-cut glass rotary dial on the center console to control the infotainment system.

The refreshed 2024 Buick Envision S has already begun shipping to the Buick dealer network and is available for sale from the end of this month in China, the brand’s main volume market and production center internationally. The crossover comes standard with a comprehensive list of features and five paint colors are offered. Here is pricing for the three initial 2024 Envision S variants in the Chinese market:

  • 2024 Envision S Pioneer: 214,900 yuan (about $29,730 USD at the current exchange rate)
  • 2024 Envision S Black Fashion: 222,900 yuan ($30,840 USD)
  • 2025 Envision S Black Premium: 239,900 yuan ($33,190 USD)

  4. I’m passing on the 2023’s which have a really good deal now. I say China or bust.

    1. Do we know which of the 2024 Buick SUV’s are made in China or S. Korea?

  5. Apparently China has won the World War III without firing a shot. While in the USA we are forced to make do with an inefficient, likely overstressed anemic 3-cylinder motor that will probably implode at 100,000 miles or less, the Chinese driver has the optiions of a turbocharged 1.5L I4 LAH engine with 155 kW or 208 horsepower and 270 Nm or 199 pound-feet of torque or the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine that develops 174 kW or 233 horsepower along with 350 Nm or 258 pound-feet of torque.

    Checkmate, China.

    1. Uh, our version of the Envision doesn’t have a 3-cylinder. The Envista does, and it’s not anemic, I own a Trax with the same engine and I’m getting 30-34 mpg, it’s not overstressed either. Considering the engine has been around since 2020 with no recalls, I think it’s pretty good.

      1. Apologies, my bad. I confused Envision with Envista because the names look and sound so similarly. Doubtless many people do which ironically highlights just how far Buick has drifted away from its’ origins.

That faux pas aside, we in the USA are still left with an inefficient, likely overstressed anemic 3-cylinder motor that will probably implode at 100,000 miles or less in the Envista and Encore GX.

Get back to me when you’re put 100, 150, 200, and 250,000 “trouble-free” miles on that motor in your Trax.

        1. That’ll take me about 10 years and I’m not sure this forum can hold my attention that long. You believe what you believe, I’ll believe what I believe. I think the engine will be just fine, you’re dead set on thinking it’s a ticking bomb. Meh. Whatever. I’m getting between 30 and 34 mpg, that’s not inefficient. It’s more than 100hp per liter, that’s not inefficient. Just say you don’t like the idea of a 3-cylinder and call it a day, don’t make stuff up based on nothing but dislike for something you’ve never driven.

          1. Stupid Toyota putting a 300hp 1.6L 3-cylinder in a rally car….don’t they know it’ll blow up in less than a year? I still see Geo/Chevy Metros running around with their 1.0L 3-cylinder engines and they haven’t been new since 2001. Lots of smart fortwos being pushed around by 1.0L 3-cylinders. Lots of Mitsubishi Mirages still moving around with the same engine as the smart. If a craptastic 23 to 35 year old Metro has held together long enough to be pulled around by a 3-cylinder, I think my Trax will last.

  6. Losing the distinctive Buick grille makes this look like just any other SUV. I’m driving my second Envision, but I’m not interested in this redesigned version. Apparently Buick styling heritage doesn’t mean much in China.

    1. Much exception taken….this screams Buick heritage! The lowered wide grill and distinctive side sculpture, I see late 40s/50s all over this awesome new design language. It looks great! For the guy looking for the new Envision Avenir…try GM international sites Buick/China. Your system should translate. It’s an amazing site, Buick has great products in the China market.

I tried posting the two links you are looking for but apparently the forum’s moderator deleted my post because it has disappeared. Perhaps posting links to other webpages is disallowed here.

        Try these searches:

    1. Well this is absolutely terrible. Inside and out. The screens look atrocious, as they always do. The exterior is now the Buick/Hyundai face. It used to be a gorgeous vehicle not it looks like a dog’s breakfast.

      1. Hyundai? Looks nothing like a Hyundai….maybe an Audi, Lamborghini Urus or Citroen, but Hyundai’s are full of unnatural angles and disconnected lines.
