No GM Vehicle Reveals Planned For NYIAS

The 2024 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) is poised to kick off later this month, with a long list of makes and models set to take the scene on the show floor of the Jacob Javits Convention Center. That includes several models from GM’s various North American brands. That said, GM Authority has learned that The General is not planning any new vehicle debuts for NYIAS 2024.

Although General Motors will not debut any new models at NYIAS 2024, General Motors will still make a showing with a selection of vehicles from the Chevy, GMC, and Buick brands. Nevertheless, The General has several upcoming vehicles that have yet to make their formal introduction, including:

With so many big debuts on the horizon, it may seem odd that General Motors isn’t pulling the sheets on any of them at NYIAS 2024. However, in light of dwindling participation among major automakers at the traditional auto show events, it’s not entirely unexpected. For example, back in 2022, three of General Motors’ four U.S. brands were unaccounted for at the big New York show, with Buick, GMC, and Cadillac sitting on the sidelines.

General Motors isn’t alone in pulling back from the traditional auto show events. For example, General Motors rival Stellantis announced earlier this year that it had decided to end its corporate presence at North American auto shows due to the “challenging automotive market in North America” and a desire to “optimize its marketing strategy as it relates to auto shows.”

Nevertheless, several General Motors vehicles will still be on display at the NYIAS 2024 for those fans who plan to attend. The public show will kick off Friday, March 29th, and will run until April 7th, 2024.

  1. IMHO….Even if they did, they would be derivative SUV’s, overpriced trucks and EV’s masquerading as the future of what the industry thinks everybody wants.

  2. Pathetic. Enclave should for sure be there. And where the f is the supposed new Malibu? ICE intros would be much more welcomed right now than EV after EV, that few want.

  3. GM needs new leadership. Their current non-truck product line is too narrow and boring with the exceptions of Corvette and the Malibu that they are trying their best to kill.

  4. In other words, they have no clue what the North American market wants. Amazing.

  5. Yeah, I don’t get it, they killed off the Carmaro instead of trying to make it successful, and now they are doing the same thing to the Malibu. This is the perfect opportunity to refresh the Malibu as your last sedan and offer some cool upgrades that would attract younger drivers who don’t want a truck or a grocery getter. It’s pretty simple and wouldn’t cost GM very much to offer a Sport package. A bigger optional engine would be great but I doubt that Mary-Joe and the current team would go for that. So just make it bolt on stuff like tires, wheels, spoilers, ground effects, sunroof, decals, and a cool interior. The base car would remain the same so it would be cheap to produce.

    1. Sadly, GM used to be number one and used to produce vehicles for everyone and some pretty cool ones. I understand that the vehicle market has changed over the years but I think GM went too far the other way. There’s a lot of room in the middle where they could make some sporty vehicles with their existing platforms and drivetrains, they just need new leaders with more market vision.

    2. A new Malibu is on the way, just not ready yet.

  6. I attended the 2024 Chicago auto show back in Feb. This year the entire show was in one hall, for years it was in both the north and south halls. Even with the one hall there was a fair amount of empty space. The day I was there it seemed a significant drop off in attendance.

My gripe for years with auto shows is that they only display top-of-the-line model or trim. I don’t recall one base model by any manufacturer on the display floor. Not everyone wants the high -end trims with all the bells and whistles.

    1. Same for the Indy auto show, I quit going after they downsized it. Plus there wasn’t much excitement.

  7. The question is will GM let us sit in the EVs this year unlike last year when you could not!

  8. Well I mean no one wants to see EV and their hybrids aren’t ready yet.
