Circuit of the Americas (COTA) is quite literally full of twists and turns, and the No. 24 NASCAR Chevy Camaro ZL1 of William Byron deftly navigated them all to win from the pole on March 24th, 2024.
Byron, 2024 Daytona 500 winner, is now the only driver with multiple wins this season. His victory at COTA marks his 12th career Cup Series win, and earned it in dominating fashion. With 10 laps left on the board, he held a three-second lead. Christopher Bell’s No. 20 Toyota TRD Camry mounted a charge in the closing laps and managed to cut that lead down to just .692 seconds at the line, but couldn’t catch Byron’s No. 24 NASCAR Chevy. All told, Byron led 42 laps on his way to the win.
“I feel like I made a lot of mistakes in the last 10 laps, just micro errors and Christopher [Bell] was really fast there on the longer run,” Byron said. “This sport is so hard and so difficult week in and week out to show up and have fast cars. We’ve had a little bit of a rough stretch the last few weeks, but put a lot of preparation in this past week and just thankful for the team I have around me and all the people back home as well.”
Ty Gibbs’ No. 54 Camry finished third, followed by Alex Bowman’s No. 48 Camaro in fourth. Tyler Reddick’s No. 45 Camry finished fifth, while AJ Allmendinger finished sixth in the No. 13 Camaro. Ross Chastain showed the way for 10 laps in the No. 1 Camaro and finished seventh. Chris Buescher, No. 17 Ford Mustang; Kyle Busch, No. 8 Camaro; and Martin Truex Jr., No. 19 Camry, rounded out the top 10.
Shane Van Gisbergen, meanwhile, finished 20th in the No. 16 NASCAR Chevy.

Just a matter of time before KIA cars are in this series.
If Toyota can enter a Supra with a straight face, then anybody can join-in…
Track limits are really arbitrary here it seems.
