Early in the Xfinity Series race, the NASCAR Chevy teams looked like they had the speed to make it three-for-three this season at Las Vegas on March 2nd, 2024. However, the chips didn’t fall in favor of The Bow Tie at the end of the day.
That’s not to downplay Austin Hill’s performance this weekend. After winning at Daytona and Atlanta, he brought the No. 21 NASCAR Chevy Camaro SS across the line in fourth, tailing the No. 20 Toyota TRD Supra of John Hunter Nemechek, the No. 00 Ford Mustang of Cole Custer and the No. 81 Supra of Chandler Smith at the finish. Hill led just six laps before falling back, and he couldn’t find his way back to the front of the field when it mattered. However, Hill retains his series lead, 22 points ahead of Smith, heading into the fourth race of the season at Phoenix.
Meanwhile, Justin Allgaier’s No. 7 Camaro showed the way for 11 laps, but he wound up 10th, while the No. 11 Camaro of Josh Williams led 10 laps but finished 14th.
Woes continued for Sam Mayer, driver of the No. 1 Camaro, who was taken out from 10th place on Lap 8, collected when the No. 31 Camaro of Parker Retzlaff spun in front of him. The ensuing damage forced Mayer to exit the race early.
“It’s just the year from hell,” Mayer said. “Very frustrating and unfortunate and can’t wait to get to Phoenix.”
Shane Van Gisbergen also had troubles early in the race. His No. 97 Camaro suffered overheating issues that his crew could not solve, and he had to retire after 27 laps.

How does a Chevy “NASCAR win” translate into vehicle sales??
Nothing raced is available for purchase at the Dealer.
They might as well be racing Chevy-badged lawn mowers….
