Officially unveiled way back in March 2021, the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer marked the resurrection of the iconic Wagoneer nameplate. Now, a few years removed from this debut, Stellantis has announced the arrival of the Jeep Wagoneer L Unmarked Investigation SUV.
Intended for government duties, the Wagoneer L Unmarked Investigation SUV is designed with versatility in mind. To that point, there are several notable features available, including:
- Emergency deck, grille, quarter window and visor lighting
- Siren and speaker system
- Window tint
- Wiring harness and power distribution center
- Pre-delivery road test
Beyond these few items, this government-spec Wagoneer L offers more than 130 safety and security goodies.
In regard to powertrain specifications, the Jeep Wagoneer L Unmarked Investigation SUV is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0L I6 gasoline engine churning out 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque. This output is directed to either the rear wheels or all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
It’s worth noting that the Wagoneer L is an extended-wheelbase variant of the “regular” Wagoneer. As such, this Stellantis full-size SUV is actually longer than General Motors’ Chevy Suburban, which itself is an extended-wheelbase version of the Chevy Tahoe.
Speaking of the Tahoe, General Motors does offer a Chevy Tahoe SSV – or Special Service Vehicle. Much like the Wagoneer L Unmarked Investigation SUV, the Tahoe SSV is intended for government jobs and offers a bevy of features to fulfill that purpose.
Outside of the stark differences in size, another interesting dissimilarity between the two SUVs lies under the hood. The Tahoe SSV is offered with a naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 gasoline engine, which develops 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. That being said, the Tahoe SSV’s transmission does feature two extra forward gears.
Notably, The General also offers the Suburban-based HD SUV through GM Defense. However, this battle-ready vehicle is in an entirely different league than Stellantis’ offering.

Hollywood will be thrilled. Now that have an entirely new black SUV to blow up in movies, instead of just Tahoes and Suburbans (and the occasional Expedition). Seems like they get destroyed more than cop cars in movies.
Don’t forget a new SUV to traffic children in and then lecture us on how immoral we are
One huge difference in the two SUVS, one is built by an American home base corp. and the other one, a European home base corp.
Well, if the public ain’t buying them, the government is more than willing to waste your tax dollars on ‘em.
Hope they fix the problem of all the lights going on the dashboard and making it live you with out brakes that happen to me on my wagoneer
