No major changes or updates are expected for the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500, which debuts as the seventh model year of the pickup marque’s 4th generation. GM Authority has now learned when production of the latest Sierra 1500 is scheduled to begin.
August 19th, 2024 is the date scheduled for 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 units configured with the Regular Cab or Crew Cab to begin rolling off the assembly line. Meanwhile, August 26th, 2024 is the date chosen for the start of regular production (SORP) of trucks built with the Double Cab.
These dates remain tentative and could be changed at a later time.
Some recent information suggests that GM is working on a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle or PHEV version of the GMC Sierra 1500, and a similar variant of the Chevy Silverado pickup. With EVs generating lower than expected sales, The General is reversing its previous policy on PHEVs and has a “crash program” for hybrids, but a hybrid Sierra is unlikely to be available during the 2025 model year.
As a reminder, motivation will continue to be provided by one of four powerplants for the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500. The gasoline powertrains include the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine developing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine cranking out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, and the atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine providing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
The model also offers a single diesel option for propulsion, namely the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. All four engines are paired with one of two transmission choices, the GM eight-speed automatic or the GM 10-speed automatic. These link to standard 2WD or optional 4WD.
Under the skin, the GMC Sierra is underpinned by the light-duty variant of the GM T1 platform, which also provides the bones for the Chevy Silverado 1500. Production will take place at two sites, the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and GM Silao plant in Mexico.

What happened to the 2025 new design? Pushed out another year? I was waiting and hoping for the new design.
It was never going to change for 2025 to begin with The person who said that click baiting
Same here, everything I’ve read says a refresh is coming for 2025 and even the dealer has suggested such.
CorkB, I was hoping for a refresh and buying a new truck. 😔
Again that was clickbait. 2025 MY will stay the same the 2026 is the next gen
GM gonna milk this Generation out for another year.
Probably. Always a year or more behind the competition. Barra Motors disappoints again!
Hate to break it to you fellas, but GMA reported on November 12, 2023 that the next gen Sierra would be a 2027 Model year, likely debuting in late 2026 .
Get rid of the 10-speed transmission = unless its an Allison
Honestly I Was Expecting this! And knew the 2026 model year, will be the next Gen
Funny that even GM Authority reported a redesign earlier in the year. So GM Authority must also be ‘click bait’
“Aside from the updated powertrain offerings, the 2025 GMC Sierra will also flaunt entirely new designs for the exterior and interior, and ride on an all-new platform.”
That’s what they thought and that leak was done on ai
But if you read it says Debut in 2025! meaning 2026MY
I saw the new model here in Texas with manufacturer plates. Looks different specially the rear smaller taillights lights are not stealthy they are curved at the bottom. looks ugly IMO. It does ride taller than older pickups. The side mirrors also are more curved. And front headlights as well loose the stealthy look more like round beveled.
I like the body style in the ‘24 Sierra. It has nice flowing lines from nose to tail, wheel openings make cohesive sense. Good looking truck. Hope they don’t depart too far from such thoughtful design, maybe reduce the size of its enormous front grill, lower the hood height just a bit. Interior ‘25 spy pics reveal impressive center screen stack. Current truck has small turning radius, good brakes, and the V8! Can’t wait to see it.
Nobody wants a stupid hybrid
IT better have a lot smother ride . I have a 19 1500 6.2 Great power rides like an old buck board . Seats are as hard as a brick. Never buy another one like that. Its a Denali
