While the 2024 model year of the Chevy Silverado HD debuted a major refresh, including a redesigned front fascia and a new interior, the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD will usher in even more changes to the Bow Tie’s heavy-duty truck. Now, GM Authority has learned when production of the 2025 pickup will kick off.
Specifically, start of regular production (SORP) for the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD is scheduled to start on July 29th, 2024, though this date might be subject to change in the meantime.
This production date for the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD includes all configurations of the pickup, including the 2500 HD and 3500 HD. Additionally, all body styles are expected to begin production simultaneously on that date, including the Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab styles.
Last October, GM Authority correctly predicted that the heavy-duty Bow Tie truck will get a new Silverado HD Trail Boss edition for the 2025 model year. The Trail Boss variant will join the current Chevrolet lineup consisting of the Silverado 1500 Trail Boss, the Colorado Trail Boss, and the upcoming Silverado EV Trail Boss. In terms of pricing and capability, it will slot in between the Z71 and the Silverado HD ZR2.
Several months later in January 2024, GM officially unveiled the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD Trail Boss, a package offered for the LT and LTZ trim levels. The Trail Boss gets the Z71 shocks and suspension package, unique 20-inch black wheels equipped with off-road tires, and a bevy of special aesthetic details.
Additional updates to the 2025 Silverado HD include Adaptive Cruise Control (RPO code KSG) as standard equipment for the High Country trim rather than requiring it to be ordered separately. Furthermore, GM is expanding availability of the Front and Rear Park Assist feature (RPO code UD5) as an option on WT, Custom, and LT trim levels, while it remains standard on the High Country.
As a reminder, the Chevy Silverado HD offers two powerplant choices, including the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine developing 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque and the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine cranking out 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. The Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission is equipped as standard for both powertrains.
Under the body panels, the truck rides on the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and the GM Oshawa plant in Canada.
