The 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 will usher in the current fourth-generation pickup’s 7th model year, which is not expected to include any major updates or changes to the truck. GM Authority has now learned when production of the upcoming model year is set to kick off.
Start of regular production (SORP) for the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 is expected to arrive on August 19th, 2024 for both the Regular Cab and Crew Cab configurations. Silverado 1500 trucks with the Double Cab should go into production on August 26th, 2024 according to current estimates.
Note that these dates are still tentative and subject to change.
The General is said to be engaged in development of a PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) version of the Chevy Silverado as well as a GMC Sierra PHEV. While GM is bringing back PHEVs in response to somewhat lower-than-expected EV demand, and the two aforementioned trucks are said to be part of a “crash program” to launch hybrids ASAP, this vehicle is unlikely to arrive as part of the 2025 model year.
While a new lineup of powerplants is expected when the next generation of the Silverado 1500 arrives, the 2025 Chevy Silverado is motivated by the same engine choices as the 2024 model year. These include the new-for-2024 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine developing 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque and the freshly TurboMax-branded turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
Other available powerplants include the atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque and the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine providing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Cog swaps are handled by the GM 10-speed automatic transmission with both 2WD and 4WD configurations on offer.
The GM T1 platform will continue to provide structure for the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500. Production of the truck will take place at three facilities, including the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, the GM Oshawa plant in Canada, and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

They can’t even build my 2024 High Country and now talking about 2025 what a crock of %$#@
I know someone who ordered a 2024 High Country back in September 2023 and it has yet to be picked up by GM but I ordered a 2024 ZR2 in February and GM picked it up 3 weeks later to build. Crazy stuff!
It’s been pretty close to that
I thought that the LZ0 came out in 2023 not 2024
I thought 2025 was going to be a redesign year?
I heard the same thing. All new truck coming with new power too ???? Guessing that was wrong information ?
Debut in 2025 as a 2026 model year
No it wasn’t! 2026 is
Two thoughts: 1st when I read the word rush to market PHEV that is an absolute red flag. With all the software issues going on with their latest google embracement, hiring all those Palo Alto employees. 2cd what happened to the gen VI 5.0 liter V/8 roll-out? Looking forward to the spec’s on that ICE powertrain from our guys from Powertrain. Forged rolling ass’y would make a supercharged 550-600 HP be nice. ICE is NICE! Oh well just dreaming of the good old days.
Who says it will be 5L displacement?
I read on this site the 2025 6.2 and 6.6 litre engines would have improved efficiency and performance. Now it doesn’t appear so.
Let’s hope so. My 2023 6.2l seized at 4400 miles, and the new warranty replacement just seized with only 500 miles on it.
I’m in the same boat with a 2024 Z71 trail boss 6.2 with 2207miles -siezed on highway thankfully I wasn’t towing a camper or my car on trailer …..will be getting out of this truck as soon as it comes out of shop !!!
How long did it take to get the motor replaced, the first time? I have a 2022 waiting for a motor replacement. So far, it has been 1 month>
It says…”Regular Cabs”! Just hope they will make them available, a SWB Reg Cab LT or LTZ. Maybe even a Z/71? I’m tired of the “Work Truck” krap. GM needs to build what the buyers want. KISS!
“KISS”? MakIng the low demand regular cab in kne trim and motor IS “KISS”
I am waiting for a equipped regular cab short bed regardless oif who makes it. No WT Crap. Kids are gone, don’t need four doors.
Can anyone verify that the 2025 1500 chev Silverado will have a body change of some degree? Thanks
The 2025 was supposed to the redesigned year!
The 2025 was supposed to the redesigned year and currently more information is saying the change isn’t until 2026! Nobody seems to know the truth at this point!
I have been wanting to buy a regular cab SWB short bed Silverado for two years.
Can’t find one & can’t order one.
you can’t find or order a work truck? Really???
GM could do so much with the Silverado. But it checks management’s good enough box and the typical conservative minimalist improvements will continue for this generation truck thru 2025. GMC always seems to get all the latest design and technology improvements yet sells less than Silverado. Must be a method to the madness I do not understand.
It’s probably late in the game but a high performance Silverado w/ an LT4/10A drivetrain rated for truck duty would have been a nice variation/ option. Probably not a big seller but a real high end GM performance truck in the TRX/ Raptor territory? Imagine that.
GM was a world leader in vehicle design, development and performance. I’m not sure where they are anymore.
Canceling the Camaro or the equivalent of $1.2B (31k) in total Camaro sales in ‘23 should give us a clear understanding that affordable performance cars are not high on GM’s list. Yet selling 1000 CTS-V Blackwings per year is of a greater importance? All I can say is it must be a favorite car of GM management.

Funny that GMC always seems to get all the latest design and technology improvements yet always sells less than Silverado. Must be a method to the madness I do not understand.

With Ram at 540hp it’s past time to up the game. Love GM products however they are last to the party or do not show up at all except for the C8 however the C8 should be starting at 550hp.
First is never good. Last is much better. Their V8s have been in production since 2014.
Will there be a 2025 as Silverado ?
Will there be a 2025 ss Silverado
WHAAAT!!!??? I’ve read Article after Article after Article for that past year about the New Redesigned 2025 Silverado, that it will have an ALL New Platform, Engine and look. I guess all of those Reputable sources, Are Not so reputable.

If I cant specify the US plant for my ordered truck, I wont buy it. I don’t want a truck made in Canada or Mexico.
I want a Canadian built truck
The number one sign that the 2025 will get a face-lift is that current 2024’s have been massively marked down all summer at every dealership. The Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon have new face-lifts.
Does anyone know if or when Riptide Blue will come off of constraint for the Silverado?
They should bring back the 300 six cylinder get rid of that 4 cylinder turbo
