Now that GM Authority has learned that the gasoline-powered Chevy Blazer crossover will continue into at least one more model year in the North American market, we now know the date when the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2025 Chevy Blazer is scheduled.
Production of the gas-powered 2025 Chevy Blazer will kick off on July 10th, 2024, according to the latest information. Note that this date is still tentative and could be subject to change in the interim.
While it remained uncertain if GM would continue production of the ICE Chevy Blazer until recently, the crossover received a mid-cycle refresh with the debut of the 2023 Chevy Blazer, following the launch of the revamped nameplate in the 2019 model year. Much of the uncertainty came from doubt about where the gas-powered Blazer would be produced, with the facility building it originally slated to convert to EV-only production in 2024.
However, GM Authority has discovered the 2025 Chevy Blazer will continue to be produced at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico. In fact, it’s currently built on exactly the same assembly line used to produce the Chevy Blazer EV, the Chevy Equinox EV, and the Honda Prologue.
The 2025 Chevy Blazer is expected to introduce only a few changes and updates to the crossover. Recently, The General expanded availability of the Arctic Package 1 (RPO code RGC) and Arctic Package 2 (RPO code RGL) to the 2LT trim as well as the 3LT, a change almost certain to carry over the 2025 model year.
Additionally, the 2024 Chevy Blazer got an early buildout of two paint colors, including Nitro Yellow Metallic (paint code GCP) and Copper Bronze Metallic (paint code GLY). It is currently unknown if these exterior paint colors will return for the 2025 model year.
The Blazer lost its Consumer Reports “recommended” status because of reliability issues with its transmission, brakes, climate system, build quality, body hardware, and paint and trim. However, it did win the Strategic Vision 2023 Total Quality Impact award for the midsize crossover category, indicating Blazer owner believe it offers them considerable value.
The Chevy Blazer is motivated by either the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine developing 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, or the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine providing 308 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, with standard FWD and optional AWD.
The gas-powered Blazer is underpinned by the GM C1 platform.

If 2025 is indeed the last model year for the Blazer, I’ll order one to replace our 2019 Premier. It’s the right size for us with plenty of V6 power on regular fuel.
How about a new dash and exterior tweaks like the new EV Models???…Is that too much to ask??
I will purchase either the 2025 Blazer or the 2025 Cadillac XT5 since they are both continuing with LGX V6 power. Mighty fine engine and coupled to the 9-speed has smooth power at all speeds.
Good to have an official confirmation. Looking forward to placing a 2025 order to replace our 2020 RS AWD 3.6. There is no other performance model in the segment.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio
Audi SQ5
BMW X3 M40i
Mercedes AMG GLC
Porsche Macan
All performance models in the segment that will handily outperform the Blazer RS V6. If you are willing to pay the premium for them.
Right. The Blazer is not considered as being in the compact or midsize “luxury” crossover SUV segment.
Why do they keep pushing the start of production ahead? I’m coming off a 3 yr Blazer lease early August. I was hoping to get a ‘25 Blazer. Not sure if the timing is going to happen.
Bring back one of the Corvette V_8 engine options for the 2025 Blazer. I wouldn’t even think about an EV electric car. Replacement battery costs are extremely high. Charging stations are rare and time to charge far exceeds the gas fill up time. Bring back the V-8 HP engine option.
When is ordering for the 2025 Blazer RS (ICE version) going to open? When is pricing for the 2025 Blazer going to be available?
How long will they produce the 2025 Blazer?
We order a 2025 Blazer RS fully loaded in the beginning of Sept. We were just told it hasn’t been built yet? When is it going to be built and shipped?
