Here’s The Wrong Way To Load A Snowmobile In A GMC Sierra: Video

Pickups like the GMC Sierra are the perfect conveyance to get your toy to its intended destination, whether your toy of choice is a motorcycle, a dirt bike – or even a snowmobile. However, the act of actually getting that motorized fun machine into the bed can be a bit tricky, or even dangerous. Unfortunately, all it takes is one slip-up to turn the situation into a disaster, as seen in the following viral video.

A snowmobiler attempts to maneuver up a ramp into a GMC Sierra.

Recently making the rounds on social media, the video is only a few seconds long, but that’s all the time it takes for things to go very, very wrong. The video shows a snowmobiling enthusiast attempt to pilot their sled up a ramp into the truck bed, opening with a shot behind the truck. We see a cold wintery scene, likely early in the morning, with a forest in the background and a boat covered in snow just off to the side of the camera.

The GMC Sierra truck bed has a metal and rubber ramp leaning against it for the snowmobiler to drive up. As they start up the ramp, we see the rear of the snowmobile start to slide out, the treads spinning furiously. It looks like the pavement underneath it is covered in ice, preventing the treads from getting any meaningful traction as the pilot guns the throttle.

Unfortunately, as the snowmobile makes its way up the ramp, the treads finally find some traction, but by that time, they’re spinning so fast, the snowmobile is launched like a slingshot up the ramp. The snowmobile accelerates so hard, it flies over the cab of the GMC Sierra, smashing the rear glass in the process and prompting the pilot to bail out.

Hopefully, no one was hurt. Check out the full video below:

  3. It’s a trend with guys to not buy trailers these days since they all own trucks making this a cheaper option. You know what they say about cheaper.

    1. This guy is obviously a rookie, look at the angle of his ramps, there was no good ending to this scenario.

      1. Yup, got to have longer ramps or some other way to decrease the approach angle. When I load my rider in the bed of my Silverado, l back down towards a shallow ditch between my yard and the road then lay the ramps from the road to the tailgate. This provides a very low angle that’s easy to drive across, if I can’t do that, I use a come- along to pull it up safely. It’s not rocket science.

  4. Wow, he lost the back window, dented the cab, and trashed the hood plus whatever damage he did to the snow machine.. That was an expensive move.

  5. At least Evil Knievel did a few passes before the jump, usually with the same results.

    1. The old adage if it’s stuck give it more gas applies here….what was this guy thinking? ” just let me keep trying when you can feel and see that the snowmobile is clearly not getting any traction he should have stopped to properly assess the situation… maybe he had one to many beers who knows. But come on man this type of $hit is what makes us Americans look stupid to the rest of the world!
