Here Are The 2024 Chevy Traverse Specifications

The 2024 Chevy Traverse serves as the first model year for the crossover’s latest third generation, debuting a new look, an overhauled cabin, new technology features, and a new powertrain. All of that is to be expected given the next-generation designation, but what about the details and specs? Now, GM Authority is going in-depth with the 2024 Chevy Traverse with the following spec breakdown, covering the engine, transmission, wheels and tires, dimensions (both exterior and interior), and weights and capacities.

The 2024 Chevy Traverse out on the trail.

Engine

Let’s start under the hood, where the 2024 Chevy Traverse cradles the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine. Output is rated at a maximum of 328 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 326 pound-feet of torque at 3,500 rpm. Notably, the new LK0 offers 19 percent more peak torque than the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine found in the outgoing Traverse.

Unfortunately, specifics on gear ratios are not yet available. It’s also worth mentioning that front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional, with the Z71 trim offering an “off-road-capable” twin-clutch all-wheel drive system.

  1. No info as of yet on MPG (gas efficiency)? The vehicle is in full production and taking orders, but that is a key deciding factor that seems to not have been addressed / released yet.

    1. I was at the dealership yesterday and they are taking orders for the 2024 Traverse but it is the 2023 model. They told me it would be another 30=90 days before I can order the new model. I am thinking at that point, I misht just as well wait a little and order a 2025. I too am curious about the fuel economy but those numbers are not available and probably won’t be until they are ready to ship the new model. Strange.

      1. I’ve been to 2 dealerships recently. The first had six orders in the system. The second, a five store dealership, had 21 orders in the system, with 4 in the accepted state. They said they won’t see any hitting the lots until mid-April.

        1. I checked 2 more delearships and both have orders coming in (one of them had 2 in stock) and can order a 2024 Traverse but they will be the old body style with the only change from the 2023 being the model year, not the new generation. They said the new body style has not been released yet. They did offer to take a deposit on the next generation and call me to place an order as soon as they become available to spec out and order! lol My delearship has a 2024 Traverse in stock and I went up and looked at it and it is a 2023 with a 2024 model year sticker. This one even had a V-6 which will not be offered in the next generation coming out later this year.

          1. Yes, it’s a 2024 Limited, which is actually the 2nd generation Traverse.

      2. Go to a different dealership. Orders for the 2024 started on December 14. A lot of dealerships are lying and trying to push the old body style over the new. I called Chevrolet and GMC both about the order process.
        Good luck.

  2. MPG ?

    1. Don’t expect any big changes from the previous generation. The 4 cylinder turbo engine will likely be slightly more efficient than the outgoing V6, but that usually doesn’t translate to much given the weight and size of the vehicle.

Chevy Silverado only picks up 1mpg when going from the V8 5.3L down to the 4cyl 2.7L.
Losses due to engine efficiency are tertiary to vehicle weight (accelerating), and vehicle aerodynamics (cruising).

  4. Can’t get any interior color other than black — even on the highest trim levels!

The Koreans are going to continue to eat your lunch, GM!

    What a disaster.

    1. The LT has a gray color in addition to black.

    2. Will the RS and LT trim options offer 8-seater option, if someone does not one standard captain seats?

  5. All these changes and not one model has memory seats? Why? Definitely a deal breaker for me.

    Reply
    1. I just went and looked at the page and the LT (base model) comes with “Power driver seat with 4-way power lumbar.” The probably means the passenger seat is manual! I would hope the upper level would come with power on both sides and memory driver seat in the upper level. This model release is a disater! My delearship called and told me they had gotten in a 2024 Traverse RS. I went up to look at it and it is a 2023 Traverse that was produced this year. They told me that the redigned Traverse would not be available for another 30-90 days but so many people were asking for a 2024 that they decided to produce some. Stupid. The release is coming out so late that they should just hold off and introduce it as a 2025!

  6. Once again, GM has taken an opportunity and turned it into faceplant. The looks of this thing are subjective….at best. And the engine, despite the power output, will be a very busy, noisy, unrefined powerplant. This thing wont hold a candle to the smooth power of the 3.6L. Its a crime!

Chris- Watch for memory seats with the return of the Premier Trim in the 2025 MY.

  7. For those wondering on fuel economy, rumor has it the new motor will be 20 city/26 highway/22 combined in the LS/LT/RS models and 18-24mpg in the Z71. Same numbers for the new Acadia. Final numbers are supposed to come out after production and before they hit the lots.
Both are rumored for a 19.4 gallon tank. So, after a 17-gallon fill up at the combined mileage you’re looking at around 374 miles on a tank of gas. Not much better than electric. GM will list the numbers higher but they don’t account for the fact no one runs their tank dry before fill up.
If they would put the 21.7-22 gallon tank back in they would be close to the Jeep Grand Cherokee L (23-gallon) and Dodge Durango (24-gallon) numbers and better than the Ford Explorer (17.9 gallon; 20.4-gallon ST/King Ranch/Platinum). But GM won’t put the bigger tank back in because they are content settling for below top 10. They want to continue to push for electric. The smaller tanks are in the same class as the Honda Pilot, Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade (all 18.5-gallon and Toyota Grand Highlander (17.1-17.7-gallon).

    1. If that is true, those MPG numbers are bad. They could have been better (especially vis-a-vis other contenders in the class: Toyota Grand Highlander, Honda Pilot, …)

If they did that, they’d have to lower the gas mileage figures to compensate for the extra weight and fuel. 😂😂 Hmmm

  8. The ground clearance is minivan territory. Less than 7 inches off the ground minimum is a non-negotiable deal breaker. We shouldn’t have to spend extra on the Z71 to get decent space between the ground and the bottom of an SUV. Including the Z71, which should have more than what it’s got, too, if it wasn’t a rip-off for show. This is off my list.

    1. What is the general acceptable ground clearance on a midsize SUV? What was the ground clearance on previous Traverse models?

      Reply
    2. The Subaru Ascent has a higher ground clearance (8.7 inches) than Z71 Traverse. A new, redesigned SUV should be in the 8.5-9.5 minimum range ground clearance in my opinion.
I am seriously reconsidering my options.

  10. It is a nice vehicle and I like the looks better than the GMC Acadia. It could be just a launch issue but to get uplevel options, you pretty much have to order the RS. I think a lot of people will have an issue with the fact that the vehicle does not offer memory power seats – they offer a nice, uplevel, power driver and passenger seat but no memory function. Very rarely does anyone else drive my vehicle so it is not a big deal for me but if you have 2 or more drivers, this could be an issue.

I currently drive a GMC YukonXL Denali and really like that the seat goes all the way back automatically to make getting in and our easier. When you start the vehicle, it reads the fob in the driver’s seat and moves to the memory setting for that driver. This should be the standard if you order power seats as it is just a programming issue and adding a driver 1, driver 2 selector switch.

    1. It should be a simple add to one of the menu pages on the media display. Even an over the air upgrade.

      1. I had not thought of that. Everything is electronic so it could be a menu item on the countrol screen.

    2. Wooww, no Memory Power Seats on 2024 Chevy Traverse !? Can someone please confirm this statement, if accurate?

I’m not sure why a family-style 3-row midsize SUV would not offer Memory Seating. Typically not just 1 person drives the family SUV in the house.

My 2014 Nissan Maxima (10 years prior) has Memory Power Seats. That would be a shame.

  12. Does anyone have any input on the sound quality of the speakers in the new 2024 Traverse LT? They sound like your listening to little baby tin can speakers. I was so surprised. Has anyone else had the same feeling?

  14. I just found out Super Cruise is a monthly subscription. Wow!
    I don’t remember seeing that anywhere. That’s a bummer!

    Reply
  15. Yes. What makes it even worse is that you have to also pay for a basic Onstar subscription on top of the Super Cruise fee. Then, if you want to mapping / routing feature to work, you have to purchase a monthly data plan supported by AT&T. My phone has unlimited data and is paired with the Traverse but it won’t use that data. I like to use Waze and that is not compatible with the Google / Alexa app. Since you don’t have a choice of supplier for your data plan, I expect to see a class action lawsuit soon because you don’t have a choice of provider so there is no competition in the pricing of plans.

    Reply
    1. My solution to the monthly subscriptions is to pull the Onstar fuse. Even if you are NOT paying for it, GM is still tracking you and selling the information for $$, you should be GETTING a payment, not paying them.
I don’t pay for any of that stuff, yet I get a monthly email telling me my mileage, oil life and system diagnostics. The same thing I can see by looking at the dashboard. I don’t need that email and I’m somewhat disturbed by it. I suppose they just want you to know that big brother IS watching you.
I won’t pay to listen to the radio and, as others, I prefer to use waze on my phone.
I have no use for Onstar whatsoever. I’ve had it in 3 vehicles so far and only activated it by accident at times, then fumbled around trying to figure out how to turn it off.
The Onstar ANALOG in my Saab stopped working when they went all digital and it disabled itself. What good is that?

  16. It seems like a contradiction to claim the Traverse’s new tough look is designed to appeal to men folk when it now has a Column shifter and no way to manually shift (that’s NOT what the paddles are for 🤯). But they have managed to add extra storage specifically for your purse, so that’s something.
