Following the official announcement of the all-new Baojun Yep Plus in mid-January in China, the SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) joint venture revealed that it will launch the all-electric Baojun crossover in April.
The automaker has just presented new images and official data of the Baojun Yep Plus, a new extended version of the small off-road utility vehicle Yep EV that began the transformation of the image and market strategy of General Motors’ youngest Chinese brand. The new data on the Yep Plus emerges as a prelude to the imminent launch of the vehicle in China next month.
The preview images published by SGMW show the all-new Baojun Yep Plus painted completely black in a darkened setting surrounded by fog where the characteristic front lighting signature of the Yep range is emphasized. Unlike the first photos where we saw the vehicle in pre-production form with a contrasting white roof, this time it is presented in a final configuration and what appears to be a special-edition variant.
In fact, the presented version of the all-new Baojun Yep Plus has a more adventurous look with unique elements such as a tubular roof platform and a side ladder to access it. In addition, it has a larger than usual rear hatch storage compartment. For now, it’s unclear if these elements will come standard on a variant of the Yep Plus or if they correspond to an accessory package that will be sold separately.
SGMW also announced that the Baojun Yep Plus will be available with an initial offering of five body colors named Cloud Grey, Sea of Clouds White, Sky Blue, Aurora Green and Space Black. Each color will have its own paint configuration which can be single tone or two-tone with a black roof – in the case of Sea of Clouds White and Aurora Green. Apparently, none of the combinations include the white roof shown on the pre-production model.
The all-new Baojun Yep Plus will be officially launched in the Chinese market during the month of April and go on sale simultaneously throughout the brand’s dealer network. In the coming days, SGMW is expected to reveal new details of the new five-door Yep Plus, including interior design, powertrain and trim level lineup.

So now GM is going to be peddling chinese junk. To top it off, china is our arch enemy and a country with which we may very likely be at war with in the near future. Well, I tell ya what, they’ve lost me as a customer . . . and I’ve been one since the early sixties; Chevys, (including 3 Corvettes and a bunch of Tahoes), Oldsmobiles, Buicks and a number of Cadillacs! They can sell that crap to whomsoever they want but I’d be willing to bet that the customer list will be short!

Okay grandpa, time to take your meds
Don’t worry. You’ll really love the news of them partnering up with CATL for batteries. What a joke Bidens IRA turned out to be.
Montana Bob,
You do realize that GM sells more cars in China than in the U.S. right? It doesn’t mean those cars are coming here.
That’s nice. The day China decides to invade Taiwan and the CCP nationalizes GMs assets there in response to US defending Taiwan (much like Russia did when they invaded Ukraine) then will GM still be peddling them?
