GM Ultium-Based 2024 Acura ZDX Qualifies For U.S. EV Tax Credit

In August 2023, Honda’s performance and luxury brand Acura pulled the sheets on the 2024 Acura ZDX crossover, the first Acura EV and one that uses GM Ultium technology to provide motivation. The Acura ZDX is also underpinned by the same GM BEV3 platform used for the Chevy Blazer EV, the Cadillac Lyriq, and the Honda Prologue.

Like these other EVs, the use of GM technology will qualify the Acura ZDX for the full $7,500 EV tax credit currently offered by the U.S. government. In an announcement last week, Acura confirmed all ZDX crossovers will be eligible for the full credit at the time of purchase.

Along with the announcement of the model’s U.S. EV tax credit eligibility, Acura said the order books for the 2024 Acura ZDX are now open. Buyers can configure a vehicle through the brand’s website and place the order, receiving an estimated delivery date at the end of the ordering process. The Japanese automaker says deliveries will start “in the coming months.”

Starting MSRP for the 2024 Acura ZDX ranges from $64,500 for a single-motor RWD A-Spec configuration to $74,500 for an AWD Type S with performance wheels and tires, before the tax credit of up to $7,500 is applied. With the full credit, these low-end and high-end starting prices drop to $57,000 and $67,000 respectively. In a previous pricing comparison, GM Authority showed the Cadillac Lyriq is somewhat more affordable than the Acura ZDX, but the crossover models are largely comparable in cost.

Updated, but still estimated, performance specs for the 2024 model-year ZDX show the base single-motor A-Spec developing 358 horsepower and 324 pound-feet of torque. The dual-motor A-Spec cranks out 490 horsepower and 437 pound-feet of torque, while the Type S is rated at 500 horsepower and 544 pound-feet of torque. The announcement describes the crossover as “the most powerful Acura ever.”

EPA range ratings for a ZDX on a full charge vary from 278 miles to 313 miles depending on trim.

Among The General’s EV crossovers, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV is set to receive significant price cuts, with its renewed eligibility for the $7,500 EV tax credit further augmenting savings. Meanwhile, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq recently regained its full tax credit eligibility.
